Anne awoke slowly, with the lethargy of one not needing to awaken quite yet, and with an option of returning to slumber once again, yet sending the need to the realm.

Opening her eyes, she found her gaze locked instantly on the figure beside her: unfamiliar only in the sense of location, newly familiar in every other way to her.

Her husband (husband, so new a word!) still slumbered, and she felt a giddiness she was certain she had never felt before, even during her younger days, as she realised that this man was hers, and she his.

Her hand moving of its own volition, she brushed a stray lock from his crown. Reaching closer, she placed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

Emboldened, she moved next to his eyes, a tender caress on each before she ventured away. His cheeks received equal attention, his nose equal adoration and his jaw her devotion.

A soft hand cupping his cheek, she was determined to study his features. Thus commissioned, she blushed to find Frederick studying her.

The smile gracing his visage reflected upon her own and this was not a moment for words. No speech was required between man and wife as distance lessened and two hearts beat as one.

A scene not so difficult to imagine.
