Meredith woke to Alex thrashing and crying for the third time that week. She woke him and asked "Hon, whats wrong?" He wanted to tell her but couldn't. She would never believe him or understand. It would ruin their relationship. He couldn't risk that. He told her "just a nightmare i'm sorry for waking you Mer." She nodded and settled in not wanting to push him to open up. She wished he'd talk to her about it, but obviously he didn't want to. They went back to sleep and in the morning they pretended it didn't happen. They left for work and Alex went off to find Mark hoping to work with him in Plastics. He wasn't in the mood to be around Arizona and her cheeriness. Meredith went to find Christina and told her "Alex is acting really strange. He keeps having nightmares but won't talk to me about them." Christina told her "Evils Spawn is probably just embarrassed. just let him come to you ok." Meredith nodded and they went to work. They all got paged to the trauma bay for an incoming emergency. Alex looked off and when the ambulance drove up he didn't fight anyone for the patient. The EMT told them "we've got a 18 year old male who was raped. He's got significant blood loss and is pretty beat up." Alex took off and everyone was shocked. Nobody knew what was wrong with him. Meredith took off after him,but couldn't find him. She went back to work, and tried calling him every now and then. He ignored her calls as he sat in the OCR and hid. Nobody could ever find out his secret. He didn't want people to pity him or look at him differently, like a victim. He tensed when he heard Bailey outside the door and held his breath. She passed and alex went back to his thoughts. He didn't notice the door open or the gasp Meredith let out seeing him looking scared. She asked "Alex, sweetie are you alright?" He wanted her to leave him alone and snapped "i'm fine." She raised her eyebrow at him and asked "if you are fine then explain why you ran out on us and are sitting here looking like a scared little kid." He got angry and yelled "mind your own business Grey." He felt bad as soon as he did it and Meredith yelled "come find me when you're done being an ass Lex." Alex felt bad but knew she couldn't find out. He couldn't decide if he could tell her or not. He heard her ranting to Christina "he can't open up. he's not capable and its really annoying. it's like he's trying to hide something from me. maybe you were right, maybe he isn't relationship material." Alex got upset and knew he was going to be risking his relationship either way and decided to tell her. He ran out and told her "mer I'm sorry. We need to talk." She saw he looked scared and guided him to the OCR for privacy. He sat down and began the long story of his past.
