The moment Roy saw a soaked Ed shivering on his doorstep late in the night, he cried out in delight and picked him up, nearly throwing him up into the air. "I thought you weren't getting back until the morning!" He covered the boy's face with kisses.

Ed laughed freely and kissed Roy's nose as he placed firmly back on the ground, shrugging out of his coat and tossing it inside the open door. He stood straight and placed his hands on his hips. "There was a change in plans. We caught our guy early. So I'm back now."

"So why are you all wet, dear?"

"It's raining outside, love. Have you looked out the window today?"

Roy just smiled and scooped the boy up in his arms, supporting him bridal style despite his protests, and carried him over the threshold to settle him on the couch and wrap him up tightly in blankets. "I'm making tea. Would you like some, Eddy-dear?"

Ed made a face at his nickname. "So long as I get to snuggle with my lovey-dear..."

Roy rolled his eyes and laughed. "You're home. You're safe. The stove's on fire. What else do I need? Wait...the stove's on fire!" He ran screaming into the kitchen, frantically trying to put out the flames.

Ed shook his head, chuckling. "I haven't missed much, have I?"
