My first written Trigun fanfic...or drabble really. I've thought about doing one for some time but I always get sidetracked in reading the wonderful stories of others.
I'm very much a VxM fan, but this was an idea for a drabble that popped into my head as I sat in front of my monitor trying to motivate myself to reply to various RPG's I'm behind in. I've never been a believer of the ep.25 event implying that any feelings Vash would have shown for Meryl would have been a result of her likeness to Rem but I suppose this is my take on the 'what if' of that scenario.
Poor Meryl. :(
Disclaimer: I don't own Trigun, but I wish I owned Vashu. drools
See Herself Unseen
She'd tried. Tried forcing love to bloom a perpetual blissful ignorance, to let it maintain contented acceptance of his inability to accept her. Feeling again the wretched pain of failure she convinced herself of this anew. She allowed her face in his gentle hand as violet-gray met a turquoise-blue, again, that did not see her. In her head she screamed those eyes to meet hers, damning those of the dead. Screamed those eyes to love her. His name gently, if not desperately, caressed her nearly trembling lips and the faintest of smiles twitched at the corner of his fine mouth, a mouth that had now found purchase on the pale flesh of her forehead. Shards of a once innocent heart slashed brutally within her small chest in the moments before soft lids drifted closed, concealing their amethyst gems beneath. Never more would she offer them to him. Never more would she see herself unseen.
