The affects of moonlight
Kagome's eyes fluttered open yet again. She sighed, 'I'm never going to get to sleep.' She thought, wiggling out of her sleeping bag. She stood up and stretched out her arms. As she did her eyes fell upon the sleeping hanyou that rested on a low branch. She could see his beautiful face lit in the light of the full moon. His silver locks fell over his shoulder, like small water falls. Kagome slowly put her arms down, staring at his sleeping form. She felt tears sting at her eyes, did her best to hold them back "why do I love you so much?" she said quietly, going back to her sleeping back, and sitting down on it with her knees tucked under her chin. Slowly tears made their way down her cheeks, as she stared at the barely lit ambers that were left of their fire. The day before the group separated momentarily to get more coverage of the area, so Kagome and Inuyasha were left alone for the night.
Kagome then sniffed a bit louder than she intended to, making one of Inuyasha's silver ears twitch in her direction. Slowly, his eyes opened. He looked around to see what caused the noise, until his eyes landed on Kagome. His ears went back. He hated it when Kagome cried. He slowly got off the tree branch, and walked over to Kagome. "Kagome?" he said quietly, as he reached her.
Kagome jumped and looked up at Inuyasha "I-Inuyasha?" she exclaimed, although quickly looking away, trying to wipe the tears from her eyes. "I-I'm sorry… d-did I wake you?" she asked, still not looking at him.
Inuyasha kneeled down next to her, and grabbed her chin gently, and turning her face towards his "What's wrong?" he asked, ignoring her question.
Kagome blushed at how close his face was "n-nothing… j-just allergies." She said, looking away from his piercing amber eyes.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes "Feh, right. Now tell me what's really wrong" he said in his usual gruff voice.
Kagome sighed 'should I tell him?' she asked herself "Inuyasha… I…" she stuttered, pulling away from him a little, looking him in the eyes. "I…" she took a deep breath "I…love you…" she whispered.
Inuyasha's heartbeat quickened 'did… did she just say…?' "W-what?" he asked, astonished.
Kagome sighed, the tears making their way down her face "I love you." She said in a choked whisper.
"I love you too." He said, wrapping his arms around her "I love you Kagome… more than anyone in the world." He said smiling into her neck. He pulled back and removed one hand from her waist, to wipe away a lone tear rolling its way down her cheek. Kagome smiled back as they slowly leaned into each other. Their eyes fluttered shut, as they shared their first kiss.
