Hey everybody, thankyou for reading this back at 2014. I didn't have time to update this story but now I decided to rewrite this. So it changed a little but I think you should read it to not miss it out. Thank you all.
I hope you like it. the story sets in the end of the reboot game and well most of it is focused on Vergil. sorry if there is any grammer problems because English in not my mother language. I own nothing and characters belong to capcom and ninja theory. I did this with a great help of my friend, thanks a lot to her.

Hours had past of the Demon King's death, and Limbo wasn't the city it used to be. Half of the city was destroyed, buildings had collapsed, cars were ruined...and people were running for their lives because of the demons.
He could see the smoke clouding the evening sky above the half standing city towers. Helicopters were scattered across the sky like birds to try to mend the city's wounds. Was it just the city or the whole world?
It was cold but he could feel this cold so much more, the cold glance of his brother, the cold blade that had cut deep in his heart and the cold look from a young woman who was his best friend. Even the long black coat that he was wearing couldn't warm him.
The blade had pinned him down but he didn't care, he just looked at his brother's face till he felt the darkness surrounds him. He knew this was the end for him, but he didn't expect that this could ever happen... to be defeated by his own brother.
His hand left the blade and went towards the young man who had pinned him down to have mercy for him but his brother's face didn't change a bit. His short white hair was messy, eyes were blood red and his skin was pale. When he saw his merciless face, he closed his eyes in despair and waited for his end.
The young woman's voice could be heard.
"Dante?..Dante, don't kill him, please?!"
She took a few steps towards the brother and said the words hurriedly, with begging eyes she looked at him but nothing changed. Then She looked at the injured brother on the ground. She couldn't forget any of his kindness over this mistake but she was still mad at him.
"Dante, I'm begging you please stop, for me?" She tried again.
Dante looked at her but he still had his powerful grip on the sword's hilt. Then He looked back at his brother...his eyes were almost shut and was barely breathing. Somehow something stopped him. He was weak and death could take him away anytime. Was this right?
His anger subsided and suddenly his face changed. his hair changed back into black, eyes went from red to blue and his face became normal. When he saw his brother's state, he pulled his sword out of his chest and ended their battle.
The other brother who was on the ground coughed hard and tried to calm his breaths. He knew Dante had cost him a great damage. He was defeated by his twin brother but He was a little surprised of Dante's act. Why didn't he kill him? Why did he change from a cold heartless demon into his human brother? still he had betrayed him.
on the other hand Dante was mad at him for his stupid actions. Why was he so selfish to take control of mankind? What was his purpose? But he was also his brother, his younger brother who had succeed to find him and help him to reclaim his long lost life after all this endeavor and trouble. There was nothing worse than being betrayed by his blood brother.
Dante reached his hand towards him with a little regret to help him up. but when the other brother touched his hand, a memory played in his mind. Two little boys were playing with their wooden swords and fighting each other in their mansion's garden. In that time, Dante's stamina and body strength was a lot more than him so he smashed the sword to his stomach and pushed him to the ground. He had a wide grin on his face because of his victory but he came towards him to help him up. It's different now, he wasn't a child anymore and this was no game.
He grabbed Dante's hand and stood up and it was harder than he thought, his bloody wound was aching but still his hand was in Dante's. He was taller but with this failure he saw himself far more shorter than him. The brothers looked at eachother's blue eyes in silence to hope the other would give up and Dante was the first to break the silence.
"The world is under my protection now, Vergil."
the girl was surprised of what Dante just said and looked at the brothers. Vergil wasn't like before, his white hair was messy instead of his regular model. His face was white as snow, his stylish long black coat and his blue pants were now bloody and dirtied. She could see a fresh trail of blood on his coat.
Dante was like always. he was wearing his white undershirt and gray jeans with his black boots, and his long gray leather jacket was hung over his shoulders. His face was all sweaty from the fighting.
Vergil released his hand from Dante's to put pressure on his wound. He was disappointed.
"You've chosen the wrong side. You're not human, Dante. and you never will be..."
His voice was weak and how he hated to sound weak... he then looked at the girl behind Dante. he could see both fear and sorrow in her innocent face. Why did she try to save him? Is she on his side now? what she did next made him to feel hatred once more.
She hid herself behind his brother who was now his greatest enemy. It hurts to see his most trusted friend and brother are not with him any longer. He saved her life, gave her a reason to live, he helped his brother to live and remember who he is and now this was his answer.
How could they do this to him? Was this all for nothing? He shook his head and turned away from them and went towards his sword which was beside It's sheath on the ground. He picked up yamato with difficulty and tried to steady his grip. There was nothing left for him to say, there is only one place on his mind, somewhere that he could find peace.
Vergil swinged the blade hard in front of him with his right hand and made a strange blue rift. He sheathed Yamato then looked back at them for the last time.
"I loved you, brother..."
His voice was broken and sad. Everything was over. All His dreams, his goals...
Without looking back Vergil walked towards the rift then disappeared into thin air with a lightning sound.
Dante looked at the soil ground where Vergil was moments ago. For the first time he didn't know what to do or say. Were did his brother go? The girl tried to hold back her tears as she looked at Dante when she heard his sad voice.
"I don't know who I am anymore, Kat."
He sounded sad, confused and regretful. She wasn't better than him either. They still had the city to save so now wasn't the time to lose faith. She put her right palm on his cheek.
"I know exactly who you are...you are Dante, nothing more and nothing less."
She tried to comfort him but he still looked lost...
When Dante looked at Kat, he could see how broken she was but still she was trying to make him feel better. Her green eyes were looking teary and her short Brown hair waving by the wind. her face still had the bruises and small cuts because of the torturers Mundus did to her.
She had wear her same long dark boots with jean shorts. Her sweater was Brown with light blue hood and sleeves but stained with blood. She had thrown bandages around her neck to hold her left arm because of the bullet wound on her shoulder. The bullet which stroke her two days ago while she was helping Vergil to destroy those data files but she got caught by mundes's forces.
Dante blamed Vergil over this...for all of this. If he hadn't acted the way he did maybe everthing could've been different. He looked back at Kat, eyes scanning her face then the spot where Vergil had disappeared moments ago but this time with his red demonic eyes.
Slowly the sun was setting and the sky was turning red. Half of the city was gone and not habitable. People were searching for their belongings from the city ruins and some were waiting for help to start a new life. Some people were crying and sitting in the street and lit candles for their lost ones.
Seeing this scenes made Kat's eyes teary. She doesn't know why the thought came up but still she couldn't believe that Vergil was gone.
Is he dead or alive? She though while following Dante trough the streets of Limbo.
Why did he say those things? When they got back together he acted strangly like he was looking at the world with hunger? His eyes looked just like that monster. Why did he...a sigh escapted her lips, She has so many questions.
The duo tried to help people along their way, just as Dante placed it the people's protection was their duty now.
Finally They reached the same safehouse before darkness. The one that they made plans and everything in it. It was a relief to see this area was not as affected as the other areas around the city, at least they had a ceiling over their heads.
After the Order was destroyed, there were only the three of them and now Vergil was gone too. The only things remained of him was this small old apartment which was not destroyed and his car and the ruins of the Order.
All the buildings in their street were around 4 to 6 floors and most of the windows were boarded up, everyone is now scared of the demons.
When they arrived they stopped infront of a six story building with bricks look and the windows were one way mirrored black glass. Their apartment was on the last floor and from the looks of it their neighbors had abandend their homes leaving only them in the whole building. That was not very comforting.
As they reached the top floor Dante closed the door and dropped his coat on the red worn out couch. They both sat next to each other on the couch in the middle of room.
The apartment was not that big, it had three bedrooms at the end of the building, two were next to each other by the right side connected by a hallway to the living room and the third was slightly bigger and at the left side near a bathroom beside the front door in the middle of the house. The kitchen was infront by the windows and The livingroom was in the middle of the house which they were sitting in. No frames were hung up the walls and most of the furniture and floor were made out of wood, it looked old fashioned.
Today was hard for them but Dante didn't want to show it so he broke the silence.
"How is your shoulder?"
She was silent.
"I know you tried not to cry on the way...is it for him or for the people?"
Kat was surprised by the question but then again she said nothing.
She ignored him and tried to take off her hoodie but she felt a sharp pain hit her shoulder and made her stop. Dante noticed
"Kat What are you doing? Let me help you..."
Kat didn't want his help and turned away from him and tried again, she just wanted to be alone right now, she tried to lift her arm up but this time she hissed in pain.
"Kat you're hurting yourself!"
She glared at him, "No! I can do it myself."
Dante was a little taken back by her
"What is wrong with you?!"
Dante realized he had raised his voice but it was too late to take it back. Her face changed into something between sadness and anger and the tears returned
"You wanna know what's wrong with me?! I'm not okay, Dante! I feel sick that you two were trying to kill eachother! I feel sick because I have to accept he's gone and I'm sick of the fact that you two are twins and look like eachother, you remind me of him. when I look at your eyes it's like I'm looking at his! Can't you understand?! I don't even know if he is still alive!"
Holding her right palm against her mouth She got up from the couch with tears in her eyes and bolted towards her room in full speed.
"Kat! Wait!"
Dante wanted to go after her but she closed the door behind her and locked it.
No ones life is going to be same after all thats happened.
Dante knew Kat was under a hard pressure and so was he but he could'nt help her until she wants him to. For now it's the best to leave her to herself for the night. She needed time just like him...
With a sigh he laid on the couch and waited for sleep to come and take him away from his thoughts.
In the middle of the snowstorm and the cold mountain in the night, a man in black was walking with difficulty. With every step he took a trace was left behind him. He was out of breath and was holding his bloody chest. He used his sword as a cane to help him walk as the gust of wind shook the tail of his coat as he walked through the small cemetery.
The small crystals of snow were sitting on his shoulders and the cold had frozen his bones still he didn't care. The only think that was important to him was his destination. He wanted to see it again even for the last time.
In the dark sky a pale statue appeared in the distance. It was a beautiful woman with great wings who was looking at the dark sky with praying hands, A beautiful angle.
Beneath it was a stone, an old grave stone with a large crack on it. There was a picture on top of the stone, a picture of a family. A beautiful red haired woman was holding a naughty boy with black hair who was smiling widely at the camera and the father of the family was holding a calm white haired boy. They seemed like a happy family but it didn't last long.
Vergil stood in front of the stone. He was out of breath and tired, his shaking legs gave out and he fell to his knees. With a weak breath he tried to speak.
"What happened to us... father?"
He hated how his voice was shaking. He hated everything...everything in this world.
"Dante-"
He was cut off with a harsh cough that made him to spat blood...so this was really the end. Taking a small breath he continued stubbornly.
"Dante betrayed me...there is nothing left for me here."
And with that he opened his coat to look at his wound. It was still bleeding and he could see his heart. He knew it was not going to heal.
Tired and hurt, he fell helplessly on the stone.
He couldn't feel the pain anymore, couldn't feel the cold wind, couldn't hear and he couldn't move then he realized his heart wasn't beating, is this death? death... he closed his eyes and everything went black.
There was only one person remaining of the family, the oldest son. He saw his mother's death, he found out about his father's imprisonment and now he knew he was the cause of his brother's death. The white haired brother was lying on the grave that he made for his parents in the pool of his own blood.
The snow crystals slowly came down from the dark sky and set beside his body and a deadly silence filled the cemetery.
