Chapter 1

Rory

He liked spending time with River. It wasn't every day that you saw your grown up daughter after all, especially not when she wasn't really raised by you and was trained to kill her own husband. He had grown accustomed to the weirdness.

"When do you think Amy is getting here? I'm about to die from all this boredom!"

He liked spending time with the Doctor a lot less. His impatience and childishness ot annoying after years of traveling with him.

"Now now Doctor, I'm sure mother dearest is already coming back from her short trip. You can wait a few minutes longer." Said River Song.

Hmph. He'd spent 2000 years waiting for her and the Doctor couldn't wait a few minutes.

The TARDIS door opened softly and a certain redheaded Scottish woman walked in. That was his wife, Amy Williams (cough Pond cough). He greeted her with a kiss which she earnestly repaid in kind.

"Where have you been?! Oh nevermind that let's go! I was thinking we could go help the slave uprising on Archer-14. Or maybe we could go spelunking in the Fire Caves on Bajor? Perhaps a trip to Barcelona, the planet of course not the city, or maybe that frozen-" The Doctor started to ramble on.

"Actually I have a better idea." Amy interrupted the mad man who owned the box and raised the object she was carrying since she came in. It was a book. Quite a thick one too. Rory couldn't quite read the cover title but he thought he saw some stone carvings on the cover.

"You want to read a book?! Well 'd understand if it was about me or something but why on earth would you want to read a book?" The Doctor asked.

Amy's only response was to give the book to River who decided to read the title out loud.

"The True and Real Adventures of the Last Centurion by Kate Ram"

Rory mentally groaned. "Really? I though all traces of that world is, well, gone since we restarted the universe." Inwardly Rory was wondering if this Kate who wrote it knew about the things he kept from his wife and the things he hoped she never found out.

"I saw this in the shop and thought we could read it. Make it a family activity you know? We barely see River and maybe it's a good idea to know her father a little better. I bet there's things in this book that you haven't told me about Rory." Amy said.

"Maybe there are. I vote for the Fire Caves. Let's not read that book love, not while we have time with River." Rory was really hoping to not have to read that book with everyone watching.

"I completely agree with Rory. Let's go already!" The Doctor started to spin some dials and twist some knobs.

"Not so fast." River stopped him. "Since I'm the person you're all trying to have fun with then I get to choose what we do."

Rory was hoping she wouldn't say it.

"We're gonna pop outside the TARDIS and sit down for a good read."

And so started a chain of events that led to the deaths of 20 people, the destruction of an ancient secret society, and the absolute embarrassment of Rory Williams.
