The evening was beautiful with a luminescent orange tint upheld in the sky mixed with in with promise of the oncoming darkness of a starry pitch black night.
The weather forecasts had predicted clear skies over one day during a week of terrible storms and torrential rain. The heat of the passed day had dried the previously wet sandy beaches.
Sora and Kairi had taken the opportunity to camp out on the beach that night because they knew they probably wouldn't get another chance with the weather they had been having lately. They had asked Riku if he wanted to join them but he politely refused, saying he still had work to do for Master Yen Sid and the King
"We're not going to have many more times like this, are we?" Kairi asked the boy lying next to her.
He sighed, he didn't want to think about that at the moment but it was true, they would have to leave again. The imminent threat of darkness loomed over everyone but they knew what they had to do and that they were the ones chosen for the task but it still felt like a very daunting task was ahead of them.
"What if none of us come back? We won't see any of our families again." Sora could tell by Kairi's tone that she was staring to panic. He put an arm around her as she sat up. Her hand covering her face.
"Hey, look at me. Kairi, look here." She looked up at sora, tears were forming under her eyes.
"You don't need to worry about anything. I'll protect you. Hey. Remember, you were the one who said 'it's my turn to protect sora. You know he's completely hopeless without us' he mimicked Kairi's voice terribly and she let out a giggle
"You're right, you are completely hopeless without me" she flicked his nose and stuck here tongue out at him. Sora gasped dramatically, feigning shock. Kairi pushed him back by the shoulder but she had more force then she had intended and pushed both Sora and herself into a position where she was on top of him.
They were staring into each other's eyes now. They could resist the invisible pull between them then suddenly their mouths collided in an explosion of passion.
Stopping to breath, They gasped;
"I love you, Kairi"
"I love you too, Sora"
