It was the 5th mission in two weeks and everyone on the ship was exhausted. Spock had been waiting for the right moment to tell Kirk that he was thinking of leaving Starfleet. He had already discussed his plans with Lt. O'Houra; she was not happy, but understood why he made his decision. Spock made it to the meeting place first. As usual, Kirk got interrupted on his way... Their meeting place was a quiet room on the third floor of the Enterprise. Spock poured Kirk a special alien whiskey and for himself a mixed drink that his mother used to make for his father. He had been saving it for a special occasion. Well, this was an occasion...of sorts. Spock waited, turning his glass in his hands, looking at the deep purple liquid and thinking about his mother, missing her. Kirk finally made it to the meeting room. Rushing in, he interrupted Spock's reverie. Spock jumped. "Oh sorry! I didn't mean to surprise you, Spock! I thought I would get here first" Kirk smiled;setting some snacks on the table. Spock was still holding the purple drink, Kirk was staring at it. "What the fuck are you drinking?" he questioned "It's a vulcan drink.." Spock didn't feel like explaning that it was his mother's own invention. Kirk nodded and reach foor his own drink off the table and sat down. Spock sat down across from him. "So what did you want to talk about?" Kirk asked. "You go first, i can wait", Spock replied "There is no rush for me to share my thoughts." Kirk looked down at his drink "Well i wanted to say i really apperciate you being part of my crew." he looked up into Spock's eyes and smiled. "So I got you this..." He handed Spock a wrapped gift. Spock gased back at Kirk. A brief smile flitted across his face. "I have only done my duty Captain." "AS you know" he said after a lengthy pause, "duty is very important to me." Spock set two items on the table between them, pushing the smaller of the two towards Kirk. Leaning back against the bench, Spock took a sip of his drink and wanted for Kirk to continue. "What is it?" Kirk asked while picking up the small package that Spock pushed towards him. "Open it." Spock said into his drink. Kirk opened the small box slowly, inside was a necklace. "It was my mother's." Spock explained to Kirk. "Since my father died; I have no other family. You are closer then a brother to me. I would like you to have this as a rememberance of our time together." He stopped speaking, looking away from Kirk towards the stars flashing by the window. "I don't know what to say...wait our time together isn't gonna be over for a long time yet." Kirk looked Spock in the eye and raised his eyebrows. "Well that's what I wanted to talk to you about.." Spock was interruped by sirens. "Klingon's!" Kirk got up "We'll talk about this later, you better put this necklace someplace safe...I would not want to lose such a precious gift." he said passing the gift back to Spock. Spock nodded, took the necklace, picked up his other object and the still wrapped gift from Kirk. "I will put these in a safe place, Captain." "Meet you on the deck as soon as I can" Spock said, following James from the room.
