Breakfast in the Kurosawa House

Daintily, Rei rose from her bed. She yawned, stretched, and glanced absently out the window. It was raining again; she was sure Miku would comment on it when she went downstairs.

"I slept like hell last night," Rei grumbled to herself, donning her usual outfit. (She had several sets of the same clothes set up in her closet.) The young woman had experienced yet another nightmare, with Yuu looming just beyond the reach of her fingertips…

Rei shook her head to clear her thoughts. Reaching up, she scratched at the cat ears sprouting from her head and proceeded out the door. Kei stood calmly in the doorway as if he owned the place, fox ears poking up from his hair. They twitched in the sunlight mischievously, almost looking alive enough to reach out and tear the hideous blue brow-band off of Kei's… well, brow.

Tiredly, Rei waved at her new companion and tripped down the stairs. The clinking of plates alerted her—Is Miku cooking something? she wondered idly—and Rei entered into her dining room to see Miku catering a table occupied by ghosts.

The young woman blinked—once, twice, three times. She waved a hand in front of her face. The ghosts stayed. One was casually sipping tea, a wide, closed-mouth smile on her pudgy face. (Hadn't Rei killed her just last night?) Another, with a sheet of long, midnight hair, appeared to be attempting to figure out how to eat the cereal before her.

"Miku?" Rei stammered. Her roommate whirled around, petite little cat ears twitching at the noise.

"Good morning, Rei!" Miku said cheerfully. "It's raining again."

"Yeah," Rei agreed absently, her eyebrows disappearing into her hair when she saw Wandering Mother and Daughter sifting through her fridge. She dashed over to see Crawling Girl holed up in the dishwasher, and Yoshino scrubbing dirty dishes.

Rei suddenly felt violently sick. She ran pell-mell from the room, heading for the bathroom. As soon as she stepped in there, however, a scream erupted from her house and fairly shook the house upside down.

The ceremony mistress, Kuze Yashuu, sat on the toilet, a day old newspaper raised. "Do you mind?" she asked crabbily, and Rei fled without a word.

In the front room, Kei walked calmly down the stairs, scratching behind his ears, a wide smile spreading across his face. He strode up to Miku, his long brown yukata streaming out behind him. The young woman turned to him with a smile. "It's raining again," she told him brightly.

Kei nudged Needle Woman aside and sat down for breakfast. "So I've heard," he said dryly, and leaned towards Reika, one eyebrow cocked suggestively.

"Got milk?"
