"Broken Promises"

It seems to me, every time you visit,

you come with promises,

of healing my pain and sorrow.

These promises mean so much to me,

since I believe every word you say.

But every promise you've made,

seems to melt away,

becoming nothing but broken promises.

But still, you seem to stay,

all the words my heart desires.

Promises that my soul needs,

to stay within the grasp of reality.

Within time my heart finally sees,

that your broken promises,

are keeping me alive with the,

hope of the things unknown,

with the promises unforgotten, but

soon seem to forget.

Your broken promises may have broken,

my trust in you, but gave me an understanding,

of the hope within your words,

keeping me alive with the,

happiness and peace you have given me.
