Thorin yelled when the gate closed, trapping them under the bridge in their individual barrels. Kili looked around, he has already spotted the lever that controlled the gate, and he had a clear path. The orcs where coming and the elves right behind them, they were sitting ducks. To make matters worse they had few weapons. His mother probably would have called it a reckless act, but they needed to move, so Kili acted.
He pulled himself out of his barrel and jumped onto the walkway. He dodged an attack from an orc and used its weight and threw him aside. He saw two more ahead, "Kili!" he was too caught up to know who had shouted but a weapon was thrown his way. He caught it and cut down the next orc with one swing, the other he dodged its axe and pushed him into the river.
The lever was only feet away, he made his first step into a run for it, but he was stopped. When he felt a pain that entered his leg so fast and hard it stopped him in his tracks. He knew it was an arrow, but something felt different about it. A pain he had never felt before spread through his leg. It was an icy pain that caused his muscles to freeze, and he fell.
An orc appeared above him, axe raised, and Kili had yet recovered. Then a sword burst through the orc's chest. The orc's body dropped revealing Kili's savior, one of the Mirkwood elves. Who knelt beside him, quickly examining his fresh arrow wound. Kili tried to pull back, reacted to the appearance of his enemy. "It is alright." He said, placing a hand on the Dwarf's shoulder, stopping him. "This is no mortal arrow." He explained, and with a quick jerk, pulled it out. Kili screamed. He felt dizzy, and he thought he heard someone yelling out his name.
Legolas studied the black arrow, "A morgal shaft." Then he threw it down as it dissolved into sand. He turned his attention back to the dwarf's wound, "The poison already runs through your veins." Although in a moment of dizziness, and disorientation Kili caught that bit.
"Poison." He spoke, unsure if he heard the elf correctly.
"Legolas!" Tauriel yelled. Legolas turned his attention to the oncoming orcs, leaving Kili. While he was preoccupied, Kili forced himself to stand through the pain, and got to the lever. He reached for it, but it was too high. So he held his breath and jumped grapping the lever with both hands, and his full weight pulled it down. The gate opened, and he dropped back to the ground, gasping in pain, but proceeded to force himself to roll over, and fall back into his barrel.
An anon requested a friendly Legolas, whoever you are, this is all for you my dear
