A/N Heloo! SO, I may be a teensy-weensy bit OBSESSED with the pairing of Marlene and Sirius. My first one-shot!
He cradled her in his arms, as a single tear made its way through the dirt from all the debris he had managed to get all over him as he searched for her through the remains of the McKinnon household. How could this have happened? How?
She was his Marlene. His. She had always been since the first time they met on the train, and she ended up giving him a black eye, and he managed to give a fat lip to a not-too-grateful Marlene. He loved her. They were meant to be dining at Dusk To Dawn, the new restaurant where they practically lived. He was going to propose, god-damn it. They were meant to live through this war, and have tiny, little grand-children running around their house, while they sat grey-haired and content, together. Together.
He smiled despite himself. He was Sirius Black, famous womanizer, yet he was ready to give up all the girls and one-night stands for Marlene. Only Marlene. The dark night sky was filled with stars, all twinkling softly, as though they were lamenting Marlene's death alongside him. As her stroked her cheek, another tear managed to spill out - her cheek was as soft as ever, but their was no colour to it, no glow, no warmth. Her lips weren't that pillar-box red she usually hated any more either, they were a dull grey.
Dull. Marlene McKinnon was anything but dull. He still remembered the time he convinced him to go and have a swim with him- in McGonogal's grinned as he remembered the look on Minnie's face as it contorted with anger at the fact that they had transfigured her office into an indoor pool, though it quickly died on his face. He had loved her. His heart shattered into even smaller, sharp shards as he realized he would never get to tell her he loved her another time. He loved her. God-damn it, he loved her. Still. Then he realized with a smile, they were Sirius and Marlene. She was his first, only, true love. She was the one that would take the time to piece him back together bit-by-bit after he fell apart, and no one, not even James noticed. She was the one, period, he realized with a bitter-sweet smile. He would always love her. Always.
