IDK I am just coming up with random AU's…
"Go fish!"
Lapis slapped her cards face down on the pier they were sitting on.
Peridot glared at her while she picked up a card from the middle stack. "I don't know why we are playing THIS game and not Black Jack like I suggested. I'm completely losing."
Lapis gave her a bittersweet smile. "We-ell…that's just the way the world works."
Peridot looked at her watch. "It's going to be really hot soon. Should I get some water bottles from the cooler?"
"Get whatever. It doesn't have to be water." Lapis said, looking through her cards to find extra pairs. There were two extra pairs.
Peridot got off the pier and reached in the cooler. She got two sodas for both of them.
"Thanks, Peri." Lapis said, pecking her on the lips.
Peridot blushed. "You-you're welcome…"
Lapis' phone began to ring from inside her pocket. Lapis looked at the Caller ID. "Ugh. It's JASPER again!"
Peridot pouted," And I thought she was my best friend! She needs to leave you alone!"
Lapis picked up the line and said evenly into the speaker, "Again, Jasper, I am not interested." Then she hung up.
Peridot gave her a thumbs-up.
Lapis laid the phone on the pier-just in time for a fish to jump up and swallow it.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" yelled Peridot.
"I don't know! I didn't know fish had a taste for phones!" Lapis cried.
They heard Lapis' phone ringing as the fish gulped it down and flopped off the deck before Peridot could grab it.
"Oooohhhh…my mom's gonna kill me if she finds out I lost my phoooone…" Lapis worried, shifting from her right foot to her left foot.
"Then we're going to have to do something very tiresome." Peridot said.
"What's that?" Lapis sniffed.
"We are going to have to go fish." Peridot said solemnly.
"Are you joking me?!" Lapis said.
"Well, how else are we going to get it? I'll tell Jasper to keep calling us."
Peridot called Jasper, who was very hesitant to helping her. But when she found out that it was for Lapis, she agreed.
A moment later they heard a fish jump and the small sound of a phone ringing.
"Sunbelly." Peridot said as she got all of the fishing gear out of the car. "Okay. I've gone fishing before. I'll set up your pole."
Lapis was sucking on her index finger in worry. "I'm dead, Peri, I'm dead and I'm only thirteen…"
"Calm down! It's still here, we'll find your phone."
Peridot threw her line into the water and waited for the familiar tug on the line.
2 hours Later
10 fish laid on the deck.
Unfortunately, the one with Lapis' phone wasn't one of them. There were NO sunbellies at all!
"Can't we just give up?" Lapis groaned.
"No. Jasper's working hard back at home to help you. We can't have wasted that for nothing." Peridot said.
Suddenly the familiar jingle of Lapis' phone came from a man's hook on the other side of the river.
Lapis gasped and jumped in the water, swimming towards him.
The man looked down the fish's throat and pulled out Lapis' phone.
Lapis jumped out of the water and grabbed the phone, nodding quickly to the man. "Thank you."
She looked down at the caller ID. But it wasn't Jasper this time…it was Peridot.
Peridot waved to Lapis on the other side of the river.
Lapis grinned evilly and answered the call. "Hello?"
"Hey, Lapis. You got your phone back, I presume?" Peridot giggled.
"Oh yeah. I definitely did!" Lapis teased.
"Give me some credit, babe, I have been the one that's been calling you."
Lapis shook her head. "You're so funny. This conversation makes ZERO sense."
"Nonsensical mush." Peridot paused. "So why don't you come back over here?"
"Gladly." Lapis said. "Then we can play Go Fish."
"I've been doing that all afternoon. How about instead we play Black Jack?"
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED TO ME BUT I HAD TO WRITE THIS AGH IT SUCKS
