What Used to Be
Gabriel giggled as he fluttered around, testing out his newfound love of flying. It really was great and he had no idea why he was so afraid of it before. Of course he would never tell anyone that he had been afraid. That would have made him look weak and Gabriel was not weak.
Gabriel continued to flit around. He wasn't really paying attention to where he was going though. He suddenly bumped into someone who let out a loud oof. He stopped to see who he'd bumped into and was scared right away. He'd bumped into the Lucifer was not the fondest of the younger angels bumping into him. Even if he wasn't that much older than Gabriel. But he wasn't going to look scared. Because Gabe wasn't weak.
"Sorry Luci. I didn't see you." Gabe looked down at the ground.
Then Lucifer chuckled, causing Gabe's head to shoot up and look at him. What had he done that was so funny?
"No worries Gabriel. I remember when I first learned to fly. It was awesome."
Gabriel grinned. Lucifer was being nice to him. "It is! It's just so much fun to be up so high and to fly around in circles."
Of course Gabriel had to demonstrate. He began to fly literal circles around Lucifer who just hovered there laughing. Gabriel stopped, the biggest grin ever on his face.
"You know, you're not that bad kid." Gabriel guessed that was a good thing. "So I heard you were he one who put tar in Michael's feathers…"
Gabriel looked down at the ground. "Maybe…"
Lucifer chuckled. "Wish I would have thought of that." Gabe's head shot up. "He's been bugging me for ages. Got any more brilliant ideas to mess with him?"
"Loads."
The angels shared a mischievous smirk.
