Pairing: Dirk Strider x Jake English

Authors Notes: This was inspired by the art of HamletMachine, who drew a picture of a sleeping dreamself Jake with dreamself Dirk watching over him. It was just... uggggh. Gave me plotbunnies that I simply had to write. I love Homestuck though, so expect more from me.
He lyes asleep in his tower on Prospit, untouched and unaware of the existance of his own dream self. While fellow Prospitans wander about the golden streets of the city, he is left to himself; alone until he wakes from his slumber.
The Derse dreamer keeps close watch though on the young Page. He would never leave him truly by himself, his watchful gaze a constant on the Prospit dreamer's sleeping form. The Prince however finds it struggling to keep close to him. With juggling the actions of his dream-self while awake, dealing with assassin's from the Black Queen, and keeping tabs on a certain blonde Lalonde, it is all so very tedious and time-consuming.
However, he always seems to find time for the sleeping Page.
Dirk realizes he probably won't wake anytime soon, but nonetheless he finds the silent company wholesome. It brings a feeling that swallows him whole — more so than the monsters within the Furthest Ring that steal his gaze from time to time — and causes his hands to only slightly tremble. Never out of fear though, anticipation if anything. For the feelings that swirl about inside him lead his hands to wander, to hover over the Prospit golden uniform and trail up to the flawless features of his face, to tangle in those dark locks and —
Before the Prince conducts actions he will no doubt regret, he finds himself heading back to his tower, beyond The Veil of Skaia.
