Usual Disclaimers: I don't own Green Lantern- Unfortunately, it means that I don't own Hal Jordan, either, too bad... and, I have to add that I don't own Serenity/Firefly... It's set DURING the 2005 Green Lantern Annual, as Hal brings Kyle to flight in a proper way...there's a quote from said movie (FIRELY): it's from the last scene. as soon as I heard the words, I thought of Hal (maybe Whedon, one of the world's gretest comic nerds, was thinking about it, who knows...) and I writed in a flash this thing... hope you'll enjoy it!
"This is it? You want to take me for a flight? - Kyle isn't sure as it comes out from his lips as he tries to talk to Hal Jordan, while they are changing into that old airport. It wasn't supposed to be such a question… it had to be a statement. - I've been flying for years!" that, he knows how it was supposed to sound. He is pissed off, for God's sake! Hal has been back from, how long, Few months maybe, and he is… he is treating him like a kid, not, not a kid… worse…. Like...like...like an amateur!
"With the ring" Hal turns to look at the younger lantern, grinning.
"Yeah, I've been flying with the ring from one end of the universe to the other for years. – he looks at the plane, hands on his lips, trying to find a reason, a real reason, to his presence there. – I don't see, what the big deal is?"
"C'mon kid – Hal grins again, calling him in the only way he hates to be referred to, the one that Guy always ménages to call him – you've never flown with me"
"Yeah, about that… Roy and Ollie told me something about it, to never trust you with my life when it comes to that…"
"You are scared of flying on a jet."
"It's just that… I don't know… this thing… - he says indicating his clothes – this doesn't… feel right"
"Because pieces of metal aren't made for flying, while, I'm pretty sure, green rings who paint uniforms on you are exactly what you need to fly… – Hal grins, and not under his breath like he used to do when he was younger and was teaching Roy how to fly properly – Kyle, that Jet is not going to fall. And do you want to know why? – He waits a second or two. It's not like it was a rhetoric question, although maybe it sounded like that in Kyle's mind, but… he stops to grin and, looking at the stars, aiming at the sky, he breaths, in and out – because of love, Kyle. This is the first thing my dad taught me about flying, the most important one. He told me… and it kept me years as a Green lantern to really get it… he told me you can know all the math in the universe, but ta take a bird in the air that you don't love and, just as sure as the word turns, it will shake you off. It's love that keeps it in the air when it's ready to fall down… that it's hurting before it keens… it's… it's like a home… it's a second nature. - He turns to look at Kyle, which eyes are fixed on the metallic object, lost, like unable to understand, and he smiles, as he packs him on the back - And I'm going to teach you that."
Soo...hope you liked it! Now, hit the little "review" botton... and tell em what you think of it!
