MAXIMUM RIDE & X-MEN CROSSOVER
Max's POV
I scrunched my face up and forced my wings to pull themselves to their fullest extend.
Giddy joy rose in me as my wings, stretched taught, lifted me slowly higher.
I took a breath of the thin, cool air and felt, for the first time in my life, that I would say the word 'Exquisite' applies quite nicely.
Nicely! I never ever say nicely!
Max no say nicely.
"Max!" I heard Angel scream from below me and immediately gave up my serenity.
Dropping ten feet, I looked around for threats.
"Max, Max, Max!" Angel said, tugging on my sleeve.
"Yeah?"
"Look up!" She shrieked and I looked up just in time to almost be killed by a sleek silver jet.
I folded my wings to my spine as the jet seemed to stop in midair.
A hatch opened on the bottom of the jet and a woman in a tight black suit with a cape walked out.
"Come in here!" She shouted.
I shot a nervous glance at Fang and he shrugged.
I rolled my eyes and Nudge bounced over to me.(Can she even do that in midair?)
"Please Max! Can we go in there?"
"What? We know nothing about them?"
"Max, They're mutants, like us." Angel said.
"Like Eraser mutants?" Something wasn't right about these people.
"Their Professor wants us to go to a mutant school!" Angel also began bouncing.
I looked to Fang for backup but instead he shrugged and said "Lets do it."
Obviously I was alone on this.
"Alright, Let's give the mutant school a try." I clapped my hands together and flew up to the hatch where the woman held her hand out to me.
Reluctantly, I took it and she pulled me in, with the other kids following.
When I was in the jet, I looked around and saw A bald guy in a wheelchair and a chick with two white streaks at the front of her chocolate-brown hair.
She stood up and came over to us.
I tensed but she only held out her hand.
"I'm Rogue."
Eying her cautiously, I slid my hand into hers.
Her skin felt weird so I jerked my hand away.
She looked away uncomfortably and if I was better with people I probably would have asked why.
Instead, I looked at her hands and, to my relief, it wasn't her hands that were weird, it was the gloves she was wearing.
"Uh, Angel?" I looked around for the demonic-and-angelic-at-the-same-time six-year-old.
I found her at my side, where I'd left her, but staring intently into Baldie's soft blue eyes.
I started to ask what she was doing, but then I remembered she was telepathic, and apparently so was he.
Baldie looked up at me and said: "Max. I know you are nervous, but I assure you that should you choose to stay at my institute, all of the staff will give 100% to make sure no harm comes to you."
"Yeah; yeah." I walked over and sat next to Iggy on one of the benches.
