Also this is my first-ever fanfic so it probably sucks, but I tried ... :P

Why? Why couldn't he get her out of his mind?? Sesshomaru, Lord of the Western Lands, sat against a tree on the edge of a forest. It was where he had saw her the first time. That human girl. Her long raven hair and beautiful blue eyes... his thoughts about her continued on as the rain pelted the ground around him.

The great lord let out a deep sigh, knowing that the young girl would only ever love his younger half brother. Kagome, why must you follow one who doesn't realize how much you love him? Her smiling face flickered into his mind. Yes, he loved her; but she did not love him. In fact he was almost certain that she hated him, all of the times he tried to kill her and her friends, but his brutality was only a cover so she wouldn't recognize his feelings. No. She couldn't hate him, she was far too kind for that.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" A high pitched voice wailed. It was faint, but he could hear it. She was far away. Sesshomaru leapt to his feet and took off in the direction of Rin's voice. Within moments he saw Rin being held by a large kuma demon.

With a single swipe of his claws the kuma was dead on the ground. He wheeled around looking for Rin. His eyes landed upon her, but before he had time to breathe a sigh of release for her safety Naraku had wrapped his arms around her. His creepy red eyes glinted and his smirk grew.

"Ah, Sesshomaru. Are you going to come save this girl, or will you let me kill her? Slowly, oh so slowly.." His deep voice trailed off as he taunted the Inu. With god-like speed Sesshomaru raced forwards. He knocked Rin out of Narakus arms and pinned him against the ground. "Come now Sesshomaru, you won't kill me, you won't be able to. Face it you've always loved me."

"I never loved you, liked you or respected you, because you are a freak. You don't deserve to live!" With that said Sesshomaru shoved his clawed hand into the other mans chest. It firmly gripped the throbbing heart within.

"Stop! Lord Sesshomaru! You are hurting her!" Rin screamed. Her? Sesshomaru's eyes flicked to Rin then back to Naraku, only Naraku had vanished. In his placed was Kagome pinned beneath him and bleeding.

Her eyes were wide and she looked absolutely shocked from the pain. Slowly her gaze softened into a small smile and her eyes filled with tears. One small hand reached up to the side of Sesshomaru's face.

"I...see. I'm sorry...I-I wish I knew e-earl-ier...I g-guess now w-would be a bad time to tell you..." Her voice trailed off. Sesshomaru pulled her closer, sitting her upright. "I-I love you..." She sighed once more and rested her head on his shoulder. "Watashi wo kesshite wasure nai." Slowly her eyes slid shut and she stopped breathing.

He laid the young girl out in front of him and unsheathed Tenseiga. He waited for the demons of the underworld to appear. None. Nothing. He couldn't save her, but why? Before him stood a glowing figure. A man. Father??

"Sesshomaru, you cannot save this girl." Inu no Taisho sighed. "Tenseiga can't bring back the lives of someone who the owner slain. You killed her with your own hands, so you can't revive her. I'm sorry, my son."

"Father! There must be some way, any way..." Sesshomaru picked up Kagome's lifeless body. Inu no Taisho sadly shook his head no. Before Sesshomaru could think his fathers figure had been washed away with the rain.

Kagome, I am so sorry. I should have told you this earlier, but...I love you too. I'll see you in the afterlife. Tears rolled down Sesshomaru's face blending with the falling rain.
