Aperture Science Inc. Parking Lot; June 27, 2007
Chell lay on the ground, in shock and sadness. She was in the rubble of what used to be GLaDOS, a Genetic Life and Disk-Operating System. The super-computer had once been the pride and joy of Aperture Science, the commercial rival of Black Mesa. Chell hadn't worked for Aperture, but her parents had, training their daughter. Chell winced at the thought of her parents. They, like everyone else who had been in the building, were dead. She was the only survivor of GLaDOS's massacre.
A thousand thoughts ran throughout her head.
No more cube...
No cake...ever...
There never was one...
GLaDOS told her that the cube couldn't speak...
But she heard it. It screamed as it dropped into the fires.
In the final chamber,GLaDOS had tried to kill her in a fire pit.
"All Aperture Technologies remain fully operational up to 4000 degrees Kelvin."
Chell had escaped and run into the nearest room and had found GLaDOS from there.
Her sanity, the only thing she had left was slowly being taken away when she found herself outside, in the parking lot of Aperture. But the prize-winner of most-disturbing-scene-of-the-year award was the creatures she'd seen. Some flying, some walking.
A newspaper had hit her, and when she read it, she recognized Gordon Freeman, a friend from her childhood. She felt a warmth fill her. At least she wasn't alone.
Unfortunately, her happiness was cut short as a mechanical whir was heard from behind. Followed by, the cringe-worthy phrase, "Thank you for assuming the party-escort-submission-position."
She felt pain as she was dragged backwards, and again and again, she screamed in her head, "No...No..."
GLaDOS had lied again. The test was nowhere near over...
Aperture Science Inc. Stasis Labs; June 27, 2107
Wheatley worked his way through Aperture Science on his usual rail. Being a AI Personality Core got boring after about a hundred years, just hanging around on a rail. Haha. At least he still had his sense of humor. But even if he detached himself, he'd been told he would die. And even if he lived, he would just crash to the ground and lay there.
WHAM!
He crashed into a wall. No, wait. Not a wall, a stasis pod. Oddly, this was the only one with someone or something in it.
Wheatley looked around. The only cameras around were on the floor, disabled for hundreds of years. He lowered himself on his device. He managed to hack into the pod and open it. Inside was a woman, no older than 18. She was like a newborn baby fresh from the hospital room, clean, peaceful-looking, and...naked...
Wheatley jumped back at that detail. He was about to get the hell out of there, but the woman began to stir. When they met eye-to-eye, Wheatley screamed, "It's alive! ALIIIIIVE!"
The girl, after a few seconds, growled, leaping from the pod. Some of the steam from the pod followed her, covering her personal parts. She grabbed onto the handles on top of and beneath Wheatley's eye. They both screamed as Wheatley began swinging around on the rail.
GLaDOS was watching everything. She'd pretended to be dead for a hundred years—oh, wait, she still was. She was still able to control the cameras, so she saw everything that went on. Chell had been awakened by that incompetent fool. It was amazing that he was supposed to be the 'humor' sphere. More like idiot sphere.
BACKUP SARCASM SPHERE TEST COMPLETE
GLaDOS would have had an evil grin if she could. Now the testing could resume.
"It's been a looong time..."
