Hybrids - half human, half animal.

Hybrids were seen as pets by the humans. They weren't allowed to live as a family so hybrids always kept well hidden. They lived off food scraps if they didn't want to risk buying fresh food from a shop.

Jack McAllister is a 17 year old cat hybrid. He has brown, fluffy ears and a long, brown tail with a white tip. He had lived with his hybrid mother until a few months ago. They had been found by 'Pest Controllers'. They had captured Jack in a net and killed his mother when she tried to protect him.

Jack's father was killed years ago by 'Pest Controllers' because he was protecting his son. He had been out with 11 year old Jack. They were at the park when some man had deliberately pulled on Jack's tail to cause him harm. Jack's father had bitten the man in anger when Jack had started to cry. The 'Pest Controllers' arrived at the park and killed the elder McAllister while the young boy ran home.

The horrible events plagued Jack's mind everyday. He was currently trapped in an adoption agency in a small cage. It was more like a prison for the young hybrid. Depending on what type of hybrid they were, all the young occupants were fed actual animal food. This meant Jack was given disgusting, lumpy cat food. He never are a single mouthful. He wasn't an animal, he still looked like a human being more than he looked like a cat. The hybrids were also forced to go on walks. They had to wear a collar and lead as they were taken through public streets.

Jack endured all that for a few months until a family turned up looking for a specific hybrid, a male cat. They had seen Jack and instantly adopted him. Jack was quite happy to finally be getting out of the agency. He didn't seem to care when a microchip was planted into his arm so he could always be tracked.

Jack was then placed in the boot of the family's car, the Barry family's car...
