Keyblade Chronicles: Sora
A Keyblade Tale
Really, the thing appeared out of nowhere. It was cold, heavy and it did things normal keys weren't supposed to do. Like kill shadows that weren't really… shadows. It was also far bigger than a normal key. Naturally, instinct took over after the initial shock of having a giant, deadly key magically present itself within his hand. He needed to get out, get Kairi and find Riku. In the next year, he finds this easier said than done.
As Sora continues on with his journey, world after world, he wonders why. Why did the Key pick him? Why was he special? Or was he cursed? Later, he learns that he wasn't necessarily the top choice.
Riku was.
Riku (who had been swallowed by darkness) had been chosen. Sora just beat him. As that memory slips past his train of thoughts, he smirked, realizing he's beaten Riku in two things now. But his pleasure soon passes. Riku is still stuck in darkness and Kairi's been kidnapped. Twice now.
And as he continues what seems to most a hopeless battle, the metal key weighs heavily on his arms. He can feel the weapon of light using his optimism, using his smiles and laughs and hopes. It feeds off him. And it feels good to have power sometimes. But Sora never lets it go to his head. Then he can't save Kairi. And of course the world.
Maybe it's his selfishness that keeps the Keyblade with him. He wants to protect his friends. He wants to help save the worlds. He needs this light it emits as it pulls out his own.
By now, this thing is a part of him. Everyone knows it. Sora and the Keyblade. Sora, the Keyblade wielder. Sora the chosen one. Sora, the bearer of light. Sora, Sora, Sora… But it's not him. It's the Key. The weapon is the one that controls everything. Because it is there. He is with the Keyblade. It's the Keyblade and Sora.
And he looks up. First at Riku as he swings the Mouse King around. Then, Kairi looking down on him, blue/violet eyes boring into his soul. And he realizes. As Goofy and Donald get off him and he hands Kairi her charm back and Riku pats him on the back. He realizes. They could disappear in the blink of an eye again. He'd be left alone. But the Key. Even with no friends. No enemies…
The Key will always be with him.
For now, as he sees them, his friends, as they are in his grasp – it's enough.

Welp, it was a little depressing, but I personally enjoyed envisioning a Sora who, while being the good soul he is, likes the idea of being able to save the worlds and his friends. And I think it is only natural that he knows they could be gone, but as I said… well you get it.
