Another Fate Another life
Chapter one

Aemon listened incredulously to his royal father. As his father moved to the end of his prepared speech, his patients began to wear. His father was king and Aemon had wondered what his father's schedule was for this part of the day, what he was delaying to talk to his son. A small council meeting? A private meeting with the boring Master of Coin?

"I refuse, father," Aemon only said when his father was over.

"I am the king Aemon," Viserys said sternly. Aemon was a stubborn, honor-seeking boy, who would not break an oath he has already sworn to follow, but Viserys knew how to break his son. Aemon could not disobey his king, or he would be breaking his oath. "You will marry Daena."

"But why?" Aemon asked. He would never love her, the entire thought was a blow his father had dealt on his pride and honor, Aemon was a hero in the eyes of many (though he did not deserve it) and the thought of marriage would be the thing to shatter their view of him as the Dragonknight. Aemon rejected the idea blatantly, he would not have it, not until the sun set and never rose again. His fists clenched as he breathed, calming the anger that grew within him and lowered his voice he deemed worthy enough to speak with. "May I know why, father?"

"Because you need a woman to warm your bed."

I already have, Aemon wished to say but held his tongue and lowered his eyes to the marble floor, realizing it was not best to the idea to confess one's sin to the king.

"You're a young man, Aemon" Viserys insisted. "And Daena is a young beautiful woman who is truly worthy to share your bed as your wife."

"I am a Knight of the Kingsguard, father," Aemon said bluntly unclenching his hand. "And I will not break my oath."

Viserys gave his son a long look. And a warning bell sounded in Aemon's mind. "She is as young and vigorous as yourself, Aemon" Viserys finally said. Aemon shook his head, still refusing the thought of marrying, his father's words could not sway him to do so, nor could his father outwit him. "I will not marry Daena, father."

"No, You Have to marry Daena," Viserys replied calmly. "and don't worry about your oaths, my son."

"You'll be retiring."
