I loved that part when Peeta tells the part when he first knew he was in love with Katniss, so I decided to go in a bit more depth. This is told from Peeta's point of view, when he is older, re-telling what happened. This is my first fan-fic, so don't be too harsh!

Disclaimer: I do not own the Hunger Games or Peeta, or the story would have turned out way different.

Someone gently shook me awake. "Wake up, Peeta. It's your first day of school." I opened my eyes to see my dad, standing beside me. "Hurry up before your mother.." He stops, not continuing. "I'll be in the bakery." He heads downstairs, with a bit of flour in the air behind him. I jumped out of bed and quickly changed my clothes and ran to the bakery. I ate a piece of stale bread, as my brother quietly worked the bread. The house was usually this quiet before my mom woke up and her yelling destroying the silence. "Come on, Peeta." My dad handed me my bag and we walked to school.

We got there a bit early, so he decided to stay until I left. I was looking around, excited for the day to start when he tapped me on the shoulder. "See that little girl ?" He pointed to a girl. She had dark brown hair, which was braided into two long braids. Her dress was red plaid. " I wanted to marry her mother, but she ran off with a coal miner." I looked at him, amazed. "A coal miner? Why did she want a coal miner when she could've had you?" He paused. "Because when he sings… even the birds stop to listen."

**MUSIC CLASS**

The day had gone as normal as any other first day. I made some friends, talked to new people, broke a few crayons, got lost...all the typical stuff. I had not talked to Katniss, though I didn't know her name yet. It was time for music, so we all walked down to the music room. The teacher, , was smiling so brightly it could have blinded us all. Finally we all calmed down and she started the class."Does anyone know the Valley Song?" the teacher asked. My mind went blank. I'm not a singing person, I'm a baker. Suddenly, a hand shot up. "Yes? Katniss?" I turned to look at her, and realized it was the coal miner's daughter. "I know it!" she said. The teacher called her up to stand up on her stool and sing. Her voice was like silk, smooth as the words came out of her mouth. I closed my eyes, picturing the words as she sang them. It was like she put a spell on me. She soon reached the end. Aw man, I thought. I wanted her to sing forever. Then I noticed, the birds had stopped singing. That's when I knew I was in love with her….and I was a goner.

So…That's that! I know it's very short, but I expect to start writing longer stories later. Please review and tell me what I should improve on! Only constructive criticism, sil-vous plait! (That's French!) Thanks for reading!
