Mikan walked down the hallways, laughing with her friends about the latest joke Nonoko had just told them, and as they entered the classroom, her eyes immediately went over to a certain raven-haired boy, as they always had.

It was another day of lies and secrets, she reflected, as she sat down on her desk and watched him converse with his male friends, but they were the ones doing most of the talking, and mostly his responses were "Hn" or "Idiot".

There wasn't really much of a difference, Mikan thought, either way he was still a quiet person.

Sometimes, she wished she was someone else other than Mikan Sakura. It had been a long time since Persona had threatened him that if he continued thinking about her both of them would get it. Mikan, on her part, was not going to allow Natsume to suffer under Persona's hands, and resorted to pretend to ignore the sparks that were obviously going on between them.

It had been more than a few years when Natsume had confessed his love to Mikan and Mikan had reciprocated his love, but the thing was that it had so happened that Persona managed to catch them back, when they attempted to runaway from the academy, and were forced once again to do dirty work for the higher-ups.

Mikan understood, even respected that she needed to stay away from him, and she had no problem with that, no problem at all. After all, she reminded herself, for his sake, she would do anything. Natsume still gave her dark looks every now and then when no one was looking, and she would just pretend to ignore him. It was as if everything had went back to normal, and they weren't talking to each other, as if things had gone back from the beginning, when the two of them were enemies, and tried hard to stay out of each other's lives.

But both of them understood what they had to do, and for Mikan, that was enough.

And if anyone asked her if she liked Natsume, she would lie. Because, for his sake, she would do anything. Mikan took one last look at the raven-haired boy and started to take notes from the blackboard.

She had a determined look on his face. Because, for his sake, she reminded herself, I'll do anything.
