Prompt: sakura saves sasuke during war, she had been fatally injured and is still in the hospital. Sasuke visits her
How long has it been since the war ended? Sasuke really doesn't know. He doesn't count them. He isn't interested in it. The only thing that pinned the young Uchiha's interest was the recovery of his pink haired teammate.
Sasuke narrows his eyes at the bouquet of daisies in his hand, the stems looked slightly crushed from the force he exerted. If he had been more careful, maybe these poor flower's stems wouldn't be crushed. Maybe, he wouldn't be walking within the white halls of Konoha Hospital. Maybe, Sakura wouldn't have been injured.
Even though Sakura already told him it wasn't his fault, he couldn't help but feel that it really was. It was one final blow from Madara that was aimed at him, he would've died if not for the medic's interference When he saw her veridian eyes glaze, he know she was in pain. When her fists clutched her stomach, he knew it was dangerous. When her blood was spilled all over his shirt, he knew he was to blame.
He felt his chest pounding, his throat dry up when her eyes were half closed. Instincts told him to save her, as she did to him and so he did. He wasn't expecting a warm welcome when he entered the medics base. He was a traitor, a threat to them and the alliance, but he didn't care. All he wanted was to save Sakura.
He wanted to beat these people. They call themselves medics? Why were they just staring at him when he was carrying an injured Sakura. He couldn't wait, any longer and Sakura might die from blood loss.
He remembered screaming at the medics until they came back to their senses and started working on Sakura. The Hokage's older apprentice approached him then, asking him questions about how Sakura came to that condition.
He glared at the metallic like door know crushed by his hand. He didn't notice that he already reached his destination. He felt his hand shake a little until he felt an encouraging tap on his shoulder. Turning to the source, he spots his blond best friend grinning at him.
"She'll be happy, especially if it's you. Just go ahead"
With a quick nod Sasuke opens the door to see a smiling Sakura with her hands resting on a book on her lap. Her skin glowed under the gentle light of the sun. Sasuke couldn't help but feel at ease. She was alright.
Her eyes landed on the bouquet of flowers in the young Uchiha's hand. She felt her heart beat a little faster and her cheeks get warmer. Gently, she lifted one of her hands and pointed one finger on the bouquet.
"Are those for me?"
Sasuke's eyes fell on the object in his hands then glanced back at the young medic. He nodded. She smiled.
Placing the flowers on a vase near the window, Sasuke couldn't but feel nostalgic. Something like this happened before, only the two switched roles.
"Thank you, Sasuke-kun." he heard her say.
"You're welcome" his lips curved upward slightly, the closest you can get to a smile. He was relieved, he was happy, he was glad he turned to the good side again, for his family, for himself, for team 7, for her. But he wouldn't let her know it.
….yet.
