Troy Bolton hesitated at the entrance of East High's gym. It had been ten years since he graduated high school and it seemed like everything had changed and not for the better. His relationship with Gabriella, his high school sweetheart, ended their freshman year of college. With her at Stanford and him at UCLA drifting apart seemed inevitable in retrospect. Everything just continued downhill from there. Troy's dream to play in the NBA had evaded him, instead he was drafted by the South Bay Lakers, the G League associate team of the Los Angeles Lakers. Playing minor-league basketball was not where Troy had envisioned himself at 28. He couldn't help but wonder how life turned out for Gabriella.
Smoothing down a non-existent crease in her Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress, Gabriella Grey took a final glance in the mirror before heading to the lavish living room of the Sunset Suite at the Four Seasons Santa Fe her husband had booked for their stay in New Mexico. It was an hour-and-a-half drive to Albuquerque where Gabriella's ten year high school reunion was later that evening and her husband had insisted that they should attend, despite her best attempts to convince him otherwise. Walking into the room, the figure sitting casually in a leather armchair once again managed to take her breath away.
"Come here, baby," her husband stood, pulling her body against him, "Every man at the reunion will have their goddamn eyes on you tonight. You look … ravishing."
Taking in the sight of him in a custom tailored Armani suit, Gabriella could not help but return, "You were the one set on going. Maybe I want to show my gorgeous husband off a little."
Her husband's hand trailed up her thigh, pulling up the bottom of her dress, "I don't think I can wait until later, Mrs. Grey. I need you now," he peppered her neck with sensuous kisses.
"Christian!" She groaned, melting against him.
