Rose's POV
As Lissa plunges the stake into Dimitri's heart clumsily, it pierced his heart and the magic I felt between our bond was a hundred times more powerful than it ever was.
A sudden flash of bright light made everyone instinctively shield their eyes, including me. It was like someone dropped the sun right in the middle of the room, but it died down as quick as it came.
I flickered into the bond, and… nothing? I couldn't feel anything, no magic, no darkness, no pain.
I came back to reality, and saw the people I loved on the floor. Lissa was covered with angry red and pink patches all over her perfect Moroi body, but that did not stop her from stroking Dimitri's hair.
Dimitri. My Dimitri.
His head was in Lissa's lap, like angels taking pity on mortals, but as he turned, I caught the first glimpse of his face. After Christian's wall of fire, I expect him to be charred by it, like Lissa, but I was wrong. His perfect face, brown eyes, perfect body… oh, the eyes. The eyes showed no sign of red, it was the brown that I fell in love with when I was back at St. Vladimir's. No longer the dark Strigoi that held me captive back in Russia.
Dimitri was a Dhampir.
