Author's Note: This is my first fanfiction that I have ever written and I think that it's pretty bad. I would like reviews and critiques so then I can improve my writing so please don't send my flames! It won't be able to help me out at all. Advice would be nice so please take some time to read and review~

Disclaimer: I do not own Phoenix Wright and I will never, either. If I do own Phoenix Wright, then I would be very rich compared to now and I would pair Phoenix and Edgeworth together. Phoenix Wright is the property of Capcom, so please don't sue me!

Turnabout Musings

By Perpetual Dreams

It was the day of the trial and the defense was pacing restlessly around the lobby. This is the second trial in which he will be defending a so-called "murderer" and he was nervous. Especially since the prosecutor is acting like a bigoted, egoistical, and a heartless bastard that would do anything to reach a guilty verdict.

Now prosecutor Miles Edgeworth was not a force to reckon with. He is an extremely adept lawyer, as he had become an attorney at the young age of 20. Defense attorney Phoenix Wright knew that and begrudgingly admitted this fact. He would have to show no weakness in this trial or else Edgeworth will easily take advantage.

Edgeworth had never acted like this, however. What had caused Phoenix's childhood friend to become the way he is now? And most importantly, why? This was not the same Edgeworth that had defended Phoenix with vigor when the defense attorney was accused of stealing Edgeworth's money back in elementary school. What had happened to him during these many years?

Phoenix glanced at the female sitting quietly on the sofa, surrounded by the police and bailiff. Maya Fey was her name. She was accused of murdering her older sister, Mia, who was also Phoenix's boss and mentor. The lawyer in the blue suit had a hunch that this girl did not murder his chief; he had to get Maya out of that detention facility for his sake and for Mia's. He absolutely cannot fail.

The defense attorney looked up towards the wall clock. 10:00 AM.

It is time.

Phoenix returned his gaze towards Maya as she was led into the courtroom by the bailiff.

"I will not fail in this trial. I'll prove your innocence, Maya!" Phoenix thought in determination, clenching his fists tightly. The two doors in front of the lawyer housed the courtroom in which Phoenix will have his verbal battle against Edgeworth. Gathering his nerves, the male in the blue suit took a deep breath.

He opened the double doors.
