A/N: This is my first fanfiction... I hope you like it!

Gym … P.E. … torture … whatever you want to call it, it is a stupid subject. Shortly after I changed, Alice came out of the change rooms. We talked quietly as we waited for the rest of the class to change. Well, I talked quietly.

"Badminton today." I said to Alice in a voice I knew no one else could hear.

'I know' Alice thought.

Alice quickly ran over today's lesson. Yippee. Even Alice's thoughts couldn't muster enthusiasm. Playing sport just seems to be not entirely interesting when you're holding back from sprinting across the room and pretending to drop a ball.

We continued our half silent conversation until the room was full and the teacher asked every one to pair up and pick a badminton court. Alice and I walked to the court furthest away. No one came to our court to be our challengers. I smiled. The last few people hurried to courts as not to be forced to play against us.

"Alice and Edward haven't got anyone to play against, Mike!" cried Eric.

"Thanks, Eric " muttered Mike.

Mike continued to swear at Eric in his head all the way to our court.

Lauren was sulking behind him. She moved to her side of the court and combed her short blonde hair with her fingers. Alice growled so loudly in her mind I couldn't hear any of Lauren's thoughts but I got the impression Alice didn't like her very much.

I knew from Alice's thoughts that she wished we could ditch this lesson but we had already skipped this class enough. I knew it wasn't going to be a very fun lesson with me hating Mike's smelly, horrible, stupid guts and Alice hating Lauren's.

That's when I got my idea. Alice saw it straight away in the future. A wicked smile crossed Alice's face. Yes! Yes, yes, YES! Alice seemed to agree anyway. Maybe this lesson wouldn't be so bad after all.

We started as normal missing a few, scoring some points, letting them score some, pretend panting after a 'challenging' round but slowly we started hitting faster and harder. We watched our opponents sweat. We would abruptly stop whenever Coach Clapp would look in our direction but start right up again when he turned to criticize another group.

It felt good to let go. We didn't go too far. Not enough to raise any questions but still enough to have fun. We both took turns hitting the ball from one corner of the court to the other. Alice was having lots of fun hitting the ball directly at Lauren's head a few times. To her great disappointment, Lauren either just ducked out of the way or had Mike save her face. When the bell rang, I have to admit I was a little disappointed.

Mike collapsed on the floor, covered in sweat and panting heavily.

"Good game, Mike." I said as I passed him. I smiled at him, and I felt him shudder. Alice and I both suppressed laughter as we left the gym.

"You never did tell me why you hate Lauren so much." I told Alice.

Ha! Alice's mind sped through her answer.

"Are you serious?" I laughed.

Well it's MY hair! Do you know how long that has been MY hairstyle?

"Well, yes, I do actually."

Alice scowled. I couldn't help smiling as we walked.

That had to be the best Gym lesson ever.
