"Has anyone seen Peter?" Ginger asked as she walked into the dressing room and the young women shook their heads. Ginger knew that Peter tended to wander off, but some high rollers were coming to the show and she needed to go over some last minute details with him. Sighing, she walked out of the dressing room when she walked to the lift and pushed the button, feeling the anger in the pit of her stomach churning inside her. The lift doors opened when she walked in the lift and pushed the button then leaned against the wall, wondering what was going on. A few minutes later she walked down the hallway toward the living room when she walked to the bar and walked behind the bar. Checking to see if he had taken some bottle of Midori and decided to go on a binge, Ginger frowned from seeing that all the Midori bottles were still there and placed her hands on her hips.
"Where is he?" she sighed then saw that he had left his day planner on the bar and opened the day planner to the right date. She saw JULIE P. – 1:30 and an address as the anger inside her boiled into full rage and she balled her hands into fists, heading for the lift. She knew that he had an eye for pretty girls, but going off to see some woman on the day that high rollers were in town was the last straw. She pushed the button as the anger bubbled inside her and she growled, pounding her fist on the lift door.
"Ok," Peter said as he held the wooden box in his hands and a grin spread over his face. "As you can see, there is nothing in the box!"
His audience was enrapture as he closed the lid of the wooden box and placed the wooden box on the table in front of him. He heard giggles as he wiggled his hips and did a little dance around the table while tapping the wooden box with his fingers. He gave the audience a blank look then a grin when he opened the top of the box and pulled out a large, white fur rabbit. The audience "ooo"ed as he smiled then walked to the little girl sitting in the wheelchair and she was wearing a plastic princes crown on her head. Kneeling down, he placed the rabbit on her lap as she smiled at him and he did a little kissed on her cheek.
"Happy Birthday, Julie," he said then stood up and bowed as the children clapped. He smiled when he saw Ginger standing in the doorway that lead to the pool and she walked closer as she tried to figure out what was going on. He walked pass the children as they came to look at the rabbit and he brushed his fringe out of his eyes while looking at a totally confused Ginger. He wasn't made up in his usual stage makeup and clothing and she liked the way he looked in his tight jeans, white sneakers and Spiderman t-shirt. "What are you doing here?"
"Hunh? Oh, I was…." she said as she blushed and he crossed his arms over his chest, arching an eyebrow.
"You were snooping and thought I was somewhere doing something naughty?" he asked and she nodded his head. "Well, as you can see, I was just doing a little side business for a friend."
"Ah, well, the high rollers have arrived and you have…." Ginger said then looked at her watch. "You have about an hour and a half until show time."
Silently swearing, Peter went to say his goodbyes as they headed for the limo and Ginger looked at him with a sweet smile on her face.
"Right, before we go any further, I want your word that you'll not tell anyone what I was doing," he said, wagging his finger at her.
"Oh, come on, Peter. What's wrong with people knowing that you're not always a jerk?" she asked and he smiled, rolling his eyes.
"And ruin my bad reputation? No way!" he said as they got into the limo and the limo headed down the street.
