I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. It was the evening and I jumped out of bed. He was coming home for the first time in a year, and I was going to meet them at the restaurant as a surprise.
We broke up after he left, but kept in touch.. I got dressed in a denim dress and tan thigh- high boots. My brother and my boyfriend were coming home well for the weekend.
Lucas and my brother Zay were coming home and I was super happy. I rode my horse Angel, a present from Lucas , to the restaurant. I brought Angel to the horse stables next to the restaurant and locked her in. I walked for about two minutes and went in to where Maddie and Tae were performing.
I saw Lucas at a table with a brown haired boy, Zay, and a blonde and brunette. I walked up to him and put my hands over his eyes. Everyone there were surprised and Lucas, well, couldn't see.
"Guess who?" I asked with amusement in my tone.
"Kayla." he guessed. "Yeperoonie", I said.
I removed my hands and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Care to introduce us to your friend HuckleBerry?." the blonde inquired.
"I'll do it", Zay interrupted.
He knew how I liked to be introduced. We did it all the time back before he left.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Girls and Boys, It's my honor to introduce singer, songwriter, poet, dancer, actress, author, my sister KAYLA BABINEAUX!" he said in his announcer voice
I took a little bow.
" Thankyou, Thankyou, you are all to kind." I said blowing kisses.
"Um... Kayla can I talk to you... alone...'' Lucas asked.
I nodded as he grabbed my hand and took me out for a walk.
I noticed as I was being announced and put my hand over Lucas's eyes and all that stuff, he kept sharing glances with the blonde and brunette. Especially the brunette.
She looked quirky. Of course I would be worried about her and the blonde looks. The brunette had her hair in pigtails, wearing a checkered, plaid button down shirt with a white tee, with these awful short jeans and brown boots. They only went to her ankles though.
The blonde had her hair down, clearly messily brushed. With a blue western jacket and a scarf my friends and I play around with, when we pretend to choke somebody, like we're out in the old west. Ripped jeans and brown belt with these blue ripped jeans.
They were both good lookin, but I don't think my Lucas would ever fall for them. Especially the quirky one.
Lucas and I walked outside of the restaurant. He had this nervous yet confident look on his face. It was absolutely adorable. I gave him a big smile.
"So what did you want to tell me?" I asked curiously.
He gave me this expression, like he didn't want to tell me what he was thinking.
"Lucas…?" I asked nervously.
"Remember how I got into that fight and got kicked out, then changed schools." he asked.
I nodded.
"Well I met a lot of friends there. Friends of both genders. Like my friends in there. Maya and Riley." he said, obviously stalling."
"Okay… get to the point." I demanded impatiently.
He started talking real slowly, trying to find his words, "Well, I like them. A lot. Especially Riley and Maya. There so welcoming. Maya with her nicknames for me. Insulting nicknames. And Riley to cheer me up. And I'll do anything for my friends. It's just…" he stopped and looked at his feet.
"It's just….?" I asked intrigued.
"I like one of them more than a friend." He said quietly.
The truth is you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.
