I ran out of school to the bus. If I was late, then I would have to race it home, and that would NEVER happen. I swung on and showed the bus driver my pass. I sat down next to my brother, Aaron and friends Julia and Freja. "Hey Louise," said Freja. I grinned and turned to my brother, jokingly punching his shoulder. "Hey Aaron," I said, smiling. His head jerked upward in greeting. Okay, is it so much to ask that his eyes are taken away from his Blackberry for two seconds for a "Hey, how are you?" Apparently so. I spent the bus journey staring out the window at the blurring lines at the side of the roads, thinking that they were like the blurred line between reality and imaginings. Julia tapped my shoulder with something sharp. "OW! What was that for?" I whimpered, giving her a hard look. She was holding a book with a black cover and two letters as the picture. HG- and the book- The book was called the Hunger Games. "Read. Seriously, it's amazing. Peeta! Or Gale?" she said, clutching her heart in false loving confusion. I took the book from her and read the back. A dystopian romance with that bit of danger? My kind of book. "And don't you DARE crease the spine!" she yelled after me as I left the bus, rolling my eyes. When I got home I went up to my bedroom, immediately opening the book and realising I'd already creased the spine. "Crap," I whispered to myself. The first line, I barely got past before everything went black, I got dizzied, and got that feeling you get when you're falling in a dream. And then I hit the ground and with a jolt, realised it wasn't a dream. Because in what sick dream do you fall asleep reading a book and falling, and wake up in a different place with gravel under your hands.
Oh yeah. Mine.
