Another Step Taken

Jenny looked up at the dark sky; frightening clouds lingered in the sky. As if, threatening for a storm. But Jenny knew it never rained in Auschwitz. Jenny saw her parents standing in line, she didn't know exactly where it lead, only to a building where her mom would tell her, "This is where a new life begins for us. Our freedom starts with a single step from there."

Waiting for their turn to die, Jenny's parents came closer and closer to the doors of the building. When the Doors opened, you can see small rooms with flames reaching up to the ceiling, screams of pain came from those rooms, then silence. Following that, ashes poured from the thick, brick chimneys. A thick layer of ash filled the sky; it stuck to Jenny's clothes, hair, and face. It wasn't until she was born twelve years ago today that Jenny would understand the true meaning of life. This was that nothing ever came free.
