For as long as he remembers, Rin always loved to cook, he loved the smell of a kitchen, he loved the contact with the products, he loved to see how something so simple as the ingredients he used could transform into such beautiful things just by the magic of his own hands, and, more than anything else in the world, he loved to see the smile on other people's faces when they ate his cooking.
Rin realized that, more than cooking, what he liked was making people happy, to him, who've never been good for anything it was an invaluable gift, something precious, something he would never give up on. And if he could make people happy just by cooking, just by doing something he liked, then so be it, he wouldn't deny a gift.
That's how he found himself in the kitchen early this morning, strange how he could wake up that early when it wasn't for school.
He had thought about this day for a while, had to if he wanted to have the right ingredients to make what he wanted.
He still didn't know how he managed to do it but he went shopping unknowingly to everyone, brought back everything he needed, and now he was standing before his ingredients, knowing what to make but hesitant to start all the same because it was for someone and it was the first time he made something like that.
He took a deep breath, "Kuro, here we go!"
His familiar mewled, "Rin, what are you going to do?"
"Chocolate! I'm trying to make chocolate for everyone. As a thank you and since it's Easter I thought chocolate would be perfect", he told him a huge smile on his face.
"Rin is so nice" he purred, setting himself on the back counter, careful not to put himself somewhere he would disturb him too much.
And thus Rin started his battle against chocolate, trying to find the right method to make it melt properly, careful not too add too much cream, not too much sugar, to properly separate all of his preparations to be sure which one he will use for which purpose.
And he had to work fast, no matter the heat of the room, chocolate could melt but chocolate also solidifies fast.
So Rin worked fast, doing his best to handle the chocolate properly, putting it into molds, making eggs, waiting just enough time for the outer to solidify before filling it with chocolate, all kind of chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate with nuts, everything to ensure that everyone would get an egg according to their tastes.
When the eggs were made he put both parts back together and put a different ribbon for everyone.
At noon he finally started the finishing touches, using white chocolate to decorate each egg, writing everyone's names on them.
He spent the afternoon sneaking in every part of the school, helped by Kuro, trying to give his gifts in secret. The night came and, to his surprise, at the school's Easter party, he got a painful but nonetheless affectionnate punch from Shura who disappeared before he could even say something, a few comments from Shima and Bon, soon joined by Izumo, about how "It's Satan's son gift we have to accept it or else who knows what could happen to us"
Even Mephisto joined in and offered a (pink) egg on his own "as a thanks".
But what he liked best was the timid kiss of Shiemi on his cheek.
Suddenly Rin didn't even care for the traitor who had let out the secret anymore. Rin was just happy to be with the people he called his friends.
