She hangs up the phone and zips up her skirt, trying not to blush. He's seen her in less before but still. 'You're staring.'
'You're beautiful.' His response is quick, sure. She can feel herself go warm, the smile instant.
She walks towards him to adjust the tie still hanging loose from his neck. An excuse she doesn't need to touch him. 'Do you feel better?'
His hands play with the ends of her hair. 'Yeah.' This time when he smiles at her it's relaxed, barely a hint in his eyes of the stress that he wore on his face when he texted her earlier and asked for lunch. 'Thanks.'
Her smile is wry. She's not sure he's the one who should be saying thank you. 'Anytime. I'm glad it was what you needed.' Her tone is teasing.
His smile turns to a laugh at the look in her eyes. 'You. You are what I needed.'
Now her smile turns sweet as her eyes go soft, leaning up to kiss him, arms sliding around his neck. The kiss is gentle, relaxed, his fingertips brushing her jaw
She pulls away moments later, one more quick kiss before wandering over to pick up her blouse off the chair where it was tossed earlier. 'I wanted to talk to you. I need Friday off week after next. My mother is throwing a party for her newest and asked Owen and me to come.'
His shrug is easy. 'Okay.'
She turns to look at him now, sliding the shirt over her shoulders. 'Really?'
'Yeah.' He nods, unconcerned, occupied with slipping his shoes on. 'It's fine with me. Put in the request.'
Now she smiles. 'That's good. I already said I'd be there.'
His laugh is quick as he glances over at her. 'Oh yeah?'
Now she's the one to shrug, her smile sly. 'I figured I could talk you into it.'
Now his attention is all on her, his eyes lit up. 'There was going to be talking me into it? I take back my yes. Talk me into it, please.'
She's laughing as she steps towards him, the buttons on her shirt forgotten. She composes herself to bite her lip in the way that always catches his attention. 'I need Friday off. Please?' Her tone is sugar sweet.
'I just don't know. We have a lot of work.' His voice is grave, his eyes laughing.
She steps even closer, close enough to touch, her hands going to his chest. This time her 'Please…' is a murmur against his skin. Her lips brush his neck as his hands grab her waist, sliding smoothly beneath the silk of her shirt.
'I…' He starts and stops, trying to continue the tease but she's already moved on, her lips brushing his now, her fingers playing with the buttons on his shirt.
'Please' she murmurs again, pulling gently at his bottom lip.
He pulls her in to kiss her, bringing her firmly against his chest but she pulls away slightly, her smile a tease. 'We have to talk remember? Discuss this.' His eyes are going dark, tease turning to want and she knows it's done.
'Okay. You've got it.' He pulls her forward again. This time when he leans down to capture her lips, her mouth opens for him.
When his phone rings, drawing them apart, she's smiling, breathless. She feels light as air. This feeling, this is why she looks forward to lunch.
