"It's cold," Hikari shouted. Despite that, he was already rolling in the snow.

"You'll get a cold," Manaka reprimanded, worried.

"Like he will get sick," Kaname scoffed, reaching down himself to play with the snow. A snowball later and a fight had started.

Chisaki listened to the shrieks from a distance, shaking her head. They were all going to get wet and—

She stopped moving. When had she started to think like that? Before, she would have joined in with them.

Staring at them, the word childish came to mind.

Because they were children.

And she...she was not, not anymore. Five years had come and gone, five years of discovering herself and the world.

Five years of growing up. Everything they were just learning now, she already knew. A distance was between them that effort couldn't quite cover. For all of Hikari's good intent when he said they'd still be friends, they'd be the same, it wasn't the same.

It couldn't.

"Coming?" Hikari yelled, and Chisaki almost jumped, surprised. Startled out of her thoughts, she smiled softly.

"Maybe later."
