I wrote this last month in response to a "Last Hurrah" challenge at Bonesology. The challenge was to write a story about Booth & Brennan going on a babymoon. I cheated a bit, as this is more the story of them on their way to their babymoon. But, hey, half the fun is in getting there.

"This isn't the way home," Brennan had a confused look on her face as Booth took the wrong exit after picking her up at the Jeffersonian on Friday evening.
"We're not going home. "
"Are we going to get Parker?"
"This isn't our weekend with Parker."
"I didn't think it was. Then where are we going?"
"Somewhere where we don't have to be us."
"Oh, can we be Buck & Wanda?" She loved undercover and the prospect made her excited about going away.
"No, Bones, that's not what I meant."
"Can we be Tony and Roxie?"
"No, we're going to be us, just not be us." His tone sounded much more harsh than he had intended and he hoped that she wouldn't notice.
"We," she pointed toward her belly, "Do not know what you mean or why you seem to be mad at us."
"You just include the baby because you know how much I love when you do that and you want to get the upper hand."
She turned to look out the window as the lights of DC faded and they drove toward the Maryland countryside. He smiled at the sight of her face reflected in the window and sighed. "I just want us to spend the weekend, together Bones," she started to interrupt him but he cut her off, "not as an FBI agent and the world's most brilliant forensic anthropologist. Just as a couple who love each other and want to go away together."
"Why?"
"I think we need some time away together before the baby comes."
"Why?"
"We argue all the time Bones, we just need to work on -"
"We do not argue all the time."
"Yes we do."
"We do no-," she pursed her lips, upset that she was proving him correct. "It seems that you have made your point."
Then his intentions finally dawned on her, "Wait, we're going out of town for the whole weekend?"
"Yes."
"But I don't have any clothes with me. "
"Yes you do," he gestured toward the backseat of the truck.
"How can you be sure that you've packed every item that I'll need for the next two days?"
"I just do."
"Well what if you forgot something?"
"Then we'll buy a new whatever it is I forgot."
"I see you're becoming more accepting of having disposal income."
"I'm making an effort."
"I don't see why spending money, which I have plenty of and am willing to share with you, as we are now a couple, requires any effort."
He decided to let that one pass and they rode in silence for a few more miles before she started again. "So where are we going?"
"You'll find out when we get there."
"Booth, that isn't fair."
"Yes, it is."
"No, it -" she caught him grinning at her out of the corner of her eye, and decided not to indulge him by continuing their argument. Instead she placed her hand on top of the one he had laying on the center console and linked their fingers. "Yes, I suppose a weekend away together might be quite enjoyable."
"Yeah, I'm still not telling you where I'm taking you."
Booth got an evil glimmer in his eye and looked at her seductively, "But I wouldn't be opposed to you wearing Roxie's little black dress."
"That better not be the only article of clothing in my bag Booth, I am quite certain that it would not currently fit."
"I guess we'll see when we get there Roxie."
