The Greendale Seven are in session in the library. Motion is made to adjourn for the day, quickly seconded, and approved. Five move for the door, searching for dinner.
Britta is still in her chair at the study group table. With half an ear she hears the others jabbering as they file out. Jeff is seated across the table, head down, intent on his smartphone.
Britta is in a muddle. Distracted. Nothing feels right anymore. It seems gravity has won the day.
Gathering her stuff, Britta sees Jeff stand up and slowly walk around the table. He stands by her as she rises to leave.
Fighting gravity, she pulls herself up, thinking 'i can't take another Winger zinger today'.
Facing her, Jeff slowly puts his arms around her shoulders and then his hands embrace her back.
Britta automatically goes on full radar alert, yet she detects no chubby.
Jeff softly rests his lips on the crown of her head and draws her in, holding her tighter.
Britta's face is buried in his chest and she feels warmth from her golden tresses down to her toes.
This is heaven.
Gently Jeff lifts her feet off the ground. He never lets go and Britta feels all the blood draining from her body.
THIS. IS. HEAVEN.
After one hundred years they slowly draw apart. Holding hands, neither will let go of the other.
Britta looks up into his rock steady gaze. Her face is lit up and her epic smile is ear to ear. She can't hear the silence. She knows her eyes are filled with tears that don't fall.
Jeff looks into her soul and says, "I love you Britta." The tone of his words roll through her body like thunder.
Now her tears fall, a waterfall she lets tumble down her face. Her smile is frozen in total happiness.
In the smallest voice of enquiry Britta croaks, "Can I have another one of those, for the rest of my life?"
Nodding yes, his smile matches hers as he reels her in. "Yes Britta, I love you forever."
She thinks she is shaking or quivering or something, and maybe radiating sunbeams. In the strongest voice she says, "I love you Jeff!"
She is so happy, and then they are both laughing in a release of long pent-up emotions. They have finally found each other.
Happy and laughing and loving, Jeff and Britta are now united as one. Together heart and mind, body and soul.
God bless you kids.
This is Greendale's finest moment.
