Sesshomaru Says

The Demon Lord was very puzzled. He had just witnessed the most absurd even played out by human brats. What perplexed the Great Sesshomaru was that they seemed to have so much, what was the word . . . fun? Well, they seemed to receive great pleasure from the activity.

There was only one solution to his puzzlement and that was to reenact the behavior and discover it's secret.

"Jaken," he beckoned his servant.

"Yes milord," Jaken immediately appeared before him.

"Jaken, we are going to play a game."

"A game milord?" The nervousness dripped of his servant's tongue, "What type of game?"

"I believe the children called it Simon says but I do not know this Simon so it will be called Sesshomaru says," he informed Jaken coolly.

"Of course milord, but . . . um . . . what are the rules to this game?"

"From what I understand I will give you orders and you will follow them only if I say Sesshomaru says first. If I do not and you obey anyway then I win, however, if I am not able to trick you then you win."

"It sounds simple enough," Jaken slowly warmed to the idea.

"All right, then shall we begin?" Sesshomaru's expression was assessing.

"Of course," Jaken bowed humbly.

"Very well. Sesshomaru says . . ." Sesshomaru was stumped for a moment.

The rug rats had come up with rather juvenile orders that bordered on ridiculous. None of their orders were worthy of the Great Sesshomaru, thus he would have to make up some of his own.

Jaken's every sense was trained on his master and he waited. This might be his one and only chance to best his master in anyway. Wait, Jaken felt unease crawl up his spine, what would Lord Sesshomaru do if he lost? Would his lord kill him? His master was not accustomed to losing and if he lost then he might be moved to violence and-

"Sesshomaru says hit yourself with your staff."

Sesshomaru was only slightly amused win Jaken complied without hesitation and continued to hit himself.

"Sesshomaru says stop."

With a relieved sigh Jaken blinked the spots from his eyes.

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed thoughtfully, he wondered how far his servant would go.

"Sesshomaru says to jump of that cliff and return."

Jaken was floored and then determination settled on his face.

Sesshomaru watched dispassionately as Jaken scurried over the edge of the cliff and didn't flinch as his enhanced hearing allowed him to hear the rather distinct thump. Ten minutes later Jaken appeared a little worse for wear and Sesshomaru was bored with the whole situation.

Deciding to end it, Sesshomaru studied his vassal with distaste. While he had received no pleasure from this process he also had no desire to lose.

"Jaken, hit yourself with that big rock by your foot."

Jaken paused in mid-motion as he realized that his master hadn't said Sesshomaru says. He straightened triumphantly only to wilt under Sesshomaru's cold eyes.

"Did you hear what I said?" Annoyance was laced in his otherwise bland tone.

Jaken started to shake as Sesshomaru's eyes started to become more fierce with every passing second. Sweat ran down the sides of his face as doubt clouded his thoughts. Had his master said the required words? Had the fall from the cliff damaged his hearing temporarily?

"Jaken," Sesshomaru's teeth were slightly bared in threat.

Jaken's will snapped, he snatched the rock from the ground and preceded to bash himself in the head with it.

"Hn," Sesshomaru's expression lightened exponentially, "I guess I win."

"O-Of course milord," Jaken's world tilted madly.

Sesshomaru allowed a brief curl of his lips as his only servant fell to the ground in a dead faint. Interesting, this game might have some merit after all.

The End
