Alternative ending
The silence that followed the battle was eerily loud. So much that it was even more deafening than the battle itself.
He had done it.
He had achieved the goal which he had been pursuing for nearly ten years. Yet he did not feel the satisfaction nor relief he had been expecting when he glanced down to the bloody corpse at his feet.
He did not know what emotion to expect, but he did not think this numbness he was experiencing was right as well. After all, one would say it to be too anti-climatic to be the end of this near decade chase, fuelled by hatred and anger.
Perhaps it will catch on later. Sasuke reflected.
He turned swiftly around and started away from the tattered body, ignoring the stares of his teammates that drilled into his back.
He was sure they pitied him right this moment. One will have to feel some degree of remorse for ending his own family. But he doesn't felt it, nor does he need it. He does not need those trivial emotions that proved to only hinder him with his quest to power. He does not need their pity nor sympathy but is just too tired to deal with them for the time being. Right now, he just wanted to take a shower, do something ORDINARY for a change.
He will deal with them later, when he have the energy and when he had sorted the emptiness that threatens to consume him.
He eyes trained on the horizon ahead, not acknowledging his team as they caught up with him. He never looked back. Back to the body of his last remaining family.
Maybe if he had looked back, he would have seen the unnatural gust of wind and the woman who appeared when the wind subsided.
