BOOM! CRACK!

Thunder rolled and lightning flashed in the sky above Rivendell. A storm is raging in the night sky and everybody is having a hard time sleeping getting to sleep. Except for the twins, but then again they can sleep through anything.

Everyone is having a hard time getting to sleep, but eventually they will sleep, for they are already used to storms.

Except for one.

Estel is not used to storms. It was the first storm he will experience in Rivendell. He is afraid as any five years old would

As more thunder and lightning came, he became more and more scared

Finally, he can't stand it anymore.

Estel hopped out of the bed and went out of his room.

He crept out in the dark silently. So silent that it would have made any elf proud.

He kept on moving till he reached the right room

He tried the handle. Good. He thought. it's not lock.

He opened the door and he ran. Fast. Then jump. High.

OMPH!

He landed on someone's stomach and that someone is none other than Lord Elrond.

"Estel?" he said. "Is that you, ion?"

"Yeah"

Estel is now huddled under the covers, shivering.

Elrond looked at the shivering bundle of cloth in front of him. This is not good. He thought

"Estel are you alright? Did you have another nightmare?"

"Ada" he said. "I'm afraid of the thunder."

Oh.

Elrond slapped himself mentally. Of course it's the child's first experience of storm here, how could he forget?

"It's okay Aragorn it's not that bad." He tried to comfort the terrified child.

"But, Ada!" Estel whined, "I don't like it! Make it stop!

If I could do that, I would have done that earlier. The Lord thought to himself. "Look Estel, why don't you just go back to your room and try to sleep, nothing will harm you, I promise." Unfortunately, Estel won't budge. Instead he clung to his adar and buried his Head in his adar's night clothes.

Nice.

"Can I stay here Ada?"

"What?" Elrond asked bewildered. None of his children ever asked him that. Not even the twins.

"Can I stay?" Estel looked at him with pleading eyes.

Don't look in the eyes, don't look, don't— oh Valar! Elrond gave in. he just can't resist the eyes.

"Fine."

"YES!"

This is going to be a long night. Elrond thought as he tried to get the bouncing kid calmed down a bit, in which he failed miserable.

Goodbye goodnight sleep. But then again who could sleep in the middle of a tempest?
