Do you feel the same way?
Chapter 1
Jane was on her way to the Cafeteria when she felt a tap from her back. She looked back and saw who it is.
"Hey Mason. What's up" Jane said to him. She could clearly see his sister Madison a few feet behind watching closely
"It's nothing. Are you free tomorrow?" He asked her while looking nervous
"Why do you ask?" Jane asked him curiously
"Do you wanna hang out with me in the mall tomorrow? Madison doesn't want to go with me so I thought you maybe interested" He told her and she was kinda surprised
"Umm. Sure what time?" Jane told him after thinking of it for a second and Mason squealed in his heart. He maybe looking calm and collective on the outside but in the inside he was jumping around
"Around 10. I'll pick you up tomorrow" Mason said to him
"We're going to be late for class Mason!" Madison's voice could be heard at the background.
Mason sighed as he slowly followed her sister while waving at Jane. She was flustered actually. No one has ever ask her out. She waved back and continued to the Cafeteria.
She reached the packed cafeteria and went to buy a plate of salad and a cup of yogurt. She always took the same meal as she wanted to keep her body in shape. She scanned the surroundings for a seat and saw one. It was in front of Roderick. She quickly took the seat.
"Hey Roderick!" Jane said enthusiastically and that startled Roderick a little
"Hey Jane." He said as he continued to eat his lunch
"Anything wrong? You seem upset" Jane asked as she looked at him with a concern face
"It's nothing" Roderick said as he tried not to make eye contact
"Well you're really bad at lying. Tell me what happened" Jane said to him as she held his hand
"Have you ever feel that you're a living target for a sport?"
"No? Why?"
"Well I have been a living target since I got here. Can you imagine being a captain for a dodgeball team and being the one targeted as the mark. It sucks if you ask me. I sometimes wonder why do they even create dodgeball in the first place" Roderick said as he sighed and Jane was worried for him as she kept gripping his hand. His heart was pumping really fast. He doesn't know why but he always felt like that when he was with Jane
"I'm sorry to hear that Roderick. Just hang on. It's just 2 hours per week" Jane said and Roderick managed to produce a smile and she let go of his hand
"I know. That's enough about me. What about you? Anything interesting happened lately?" Roderick asked while looking sideways at her
"There's one thing happened and I was kinda surprised" Jane said and Roderick paid close attention
"What do you mean?" Roderick asked her while looking at her
"Mason asked me to hang out with him tomorrow at the mall" Jane said as she fork some of the salad and popped it in her mouth.
"Oh I see" Roderick said sadlybut Jane didn't heard it
"I don't know if it's like a date or anything"
"It doesn't matter if it is a date or not. He invited you to hang out. That's what important"
"I know. This is my first time hanging out with a guy outside school"
"Well I am happy for you Jane. Mason is a great guy. He's funny and can sing really well" Roderick said while nodding
"Thanks Roderick. What about you? Have you met anyone?" Jane asked him as he nervously looked down trying not to blush.
"I haven't met anyone yet. The last time I tried to help a girl, she called me a pervert because I was helping her pick up her book and her butt was in front of me. She thought I was trying to peek under her skirt"
"Well that girl doesn't deserve you. I gotta go now Roderick. See you in Glee Club" Jane said as she took her empty plate and walked on. Roderick just stared at her while sighing. He missed the chance and he wondered if he would get another one
