Chapter 1: Like the old days.
This was originally intended to be the entire chapter, but since i royally fucked up, spelling and grammar wise (the pacing was a little off too), I decided to call it a test, and write the entire chapter again.
'It has been almost 3 years since the breach, and Ruby, my sister still hasn't returned.' Yang thought as she exited the recently parked bullhead. As the remainder of team RWBY walked to the dorm, they noticed the sad glances of the students they passed, 'another failed mission,' Even Cardin gave a small nod, acknowledging their grief, he may have been a bully, but he still felt sorry for the team, as he had grown to rather like the young huntress in training's quirks.
The worst part to Yang however, was that she didn't even know why Ruby left, 'She was so kind and talented, why'd she leave? And why didn't she tell me? Was it even her doing? Was it because of me? Because of us?' Even after three years, those thoughts raced through WBY's heads, even though it was more than likely she was being held captive, or worse, dead, though none of them wanted that to be a possibility. Even as they walked through the halls of Beacon, the memories and grief of losing Ruby still plagued them.
The group of three soon reached their dorm, always wishing that their lost teammate would be waiting on the other side of the door, sadly no matter how many times they wished for it, it would never happen.
Yang sighed and pulled the door handle down with a heavy heart, knowing that her sister wouldn't be there. Unsurprisingly, the dorm was as empty as they had left it. Sighing, Yang threw her bag to the end of the room with a small thud, sitting down on Blake's bunk as she did so. "We'll find her eventually, weather she wants it or not." Blake's words felt heavy upon Yangs heart, after both Ruby and Yang's mothers had died, Ruby was the only person she had left aside from their father, though even he had disappeared about a year ago.
She quickly wiped away a tear that was rolling down her cheek, 'And here I thought I couldn't cry anymore.'
After the first few months, the other students had started either avoiding team WBY, or just flat out ignoring them, mainly because Yang had gotten more destructive over the months, drastically searching for her sister whenever she could.
When Ruby first disappeared, Ozpin had wanted to bump one of the other members up to team leader status, but he had quickly realised that no one could replace Ruby, despite her being missing, and presumed dead.
The three girls were quickly shaken from their short rest between missions, as Blake's scroll began to beep. She pulled the device from her pocket and immediately got up, "Important news from Ozpin, he says to meet in his office," Blake stated blankly. Though Yang's face was as blank as Blake's words, and her emotions barren, Blake could still see the blond perk up slightly at possible news of her sister.
"Look Yang, we probably shouldn't get our hopes up, it might just be more false information, like last time," Weiss stated, entering the elevator to Ozpin's office.
"I don't care, if it's about Ruby, then I need to know, I don't care if it's false information, or whatever the fuck else! Although I don't exactly look it, I live in hope, hope of finding my sister. It's the only thing that's been keeping me going recently!"
The elevator ride was filled with silence after Yangs brief outburst, aside, of course, from the annoying elevator music that always seemed to be playing. The gentle music was initially made to calm people, but did nothing but annoy the enraged blonde, along with her teammates. 'God damned elevator music,' they all thought in unison.
The three girls were thankfully spared any more noise, as the elevator quickly came to a stop, signaling that they had reached the top floor, though as the door opened the three girls instantly froze.
They hadn't seen those eyes in nearly three years, Those silver eyes; only they had no joy in them, only fear. They were a dull grey, filled with fear, 'so much fear,' Yang thought. though her fear wasn't for people, but their intentions. Yang couldn't hold back her smile, even as she saw what was left of her sister. Damaged, destroyed. Broken. Those were just some of the words that could describe the petite, malnourished, and pale girl in front of her.
Across from Yang, sat Ruby Rose, or what was left of her at least. Yang quickly noticed the wheel chair supporting the girl, a blanket over her legs, Leg? If not for the light, one would easily miss the slight dip in the fabric where Ruby's left leg used to be. Along with that however, Yang saw her sister's arms, one was loosely hanging from two or three tendons, while the other was broken in several places, lacerations covering her once blank, beautiful skin.
She didn't even flinch when one of the doctors treating her, lightly reset one of the fragments in her right forearm.
Behind her was none other than Ozpin, a sad frown clearly shown on his features, one which was hardly ever seen, but what struck the girls the hardest however, were the worlds that left Ruby's mouth.
"Hey sis, c-can i please have a hug? like the old days."
Yang stood completely still for a moment, before she completely broke down, tears streaming down her face, "Yes sis, y-you can." She instantly sprinted towards her sister, slowing just in time for her to envelop Ruby in a gentle hug, as she couldn't bare the thought of hurting her sister any more than she already was. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I didn't find you sooner," Yang whispered, not saying anything else for at least a few minutes.
Finally Yang let go, and slowly turned to face her sister, to look her in the eyes, tears still streaming down their cheeks. "I'm so happy that you're alive, I just lost hope so many times," Instantly yang began crying again, closing the distance between the two sisters, once again enveloping the younger girl in a hug.
Seeing as how the doctors quickly ushered the three girls away, Ozpin decided to explain the situation, something everyone definitely needed. "As you may well know, Ruby was captured during the breach. what you may not know however, is that group who captured her, was the white fang, specifically, Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai, two of three terrorists posing as transfer students from one of the other academies." Ozpin's Features gradually grew darker as his explanation went on.
"She was mercilessly tortured for close to three years, never giving information to any of the terrorists, Even their final attempt failed."
"They were the ones that killed dad, they shot him right in front of me," Ruby quietly stated, tears still falling. Ozpin continued for her, as she clearly couldn't any more.
"After that had failed, they simply tortured her because they could, no more questions or anything, they even put her on drugs to weaken her, while they sent smaller grimm on her. Before you ask why she didn't give any information, let me explain. You see, Ruby has the unique ability to speak to Grimm." Silence filled the room, as everyone except the doctors held their breaths.
"This ability not only allows her to command weaker ones for a short period of time, but also allows the awakening of the Ancient one, a supreme grimm, above even the legendary class. what they wanted from her would singlehandedly destroy the entire population of Remnant in barely a minute. It's truly thanks to Ruby's resilience that we're still here."
One of the doctors quickly waved Ozpin over and spoke to him quietly before beginning to lift Ruby onto a nearby stretcher.
"I'm afraid we don't have any more time for today, as Ruby needs several operations, and a substantial amount of both rest, and nutrients. As for me, I have a psychopathic criminal mastermind to hunt."
"Oh and Yang?" Ozpin quickly asked, stopping the blonde "yeah?" "Take care of your sister, she needs you more than ever right now."
For those of you wondering about pacing, the pre-chapter was shit, and I have re-written it. Also, each chapter will fill half a day. This was day 1 part 1.
No promises about making these daily, but i will if i can.
