Contention with Fate: A YJ2 Story

Disclaimer: I'll start with the obvious - I don't own any characters related to DC Comics. Don't get me started on what I'd do if I did. I started writing "Frustration of a Number" and hit a snag. I couldn't get past it before the reboot happened and destroyed almost everything I loved in the DC Universe. There were some elements I liked from that story and this one was barely started as well so I combined them all in my head and I'll be updating this story very slowly. I apologize for that but I have extremely bad feelings for what will be taking place in the current Bat-storyline so I don't want to jump to conclusions. With that all being said - here we go!
"The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves."
- John Connor, Terminator 2 Judgment Day
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff." - The Doctor, Doctor Who - Blink
Gotham City - Halloween
The dying roar of a motorcycle engine shutting off signaled the arrival of Marcus Lobo. The half-Czarnian strolled up the walkway to the quaint home of the Drake family. He waved to the neighbors and laughed as they ran back into their homes to continue their voyeuristic activities through the shades.
At his knock, the door opened to reveal Timothy Drake. The former Robin, currently Nightwing, smiled and waved to his nosy neighbors and allowed Marcus entry.
"It never ceases to amaze me how annoying some people can be. You and Keelia have been dating for years and you're a superhero in the limelight, yet they're still scared of you. Sorry about that Marcus." Tim apologized.
"Don't sweat it, Mr. D. I really don't give a frag." Marcus shrugged.
"By the way, congratulations on becoming a legal adult. Help us all!" Tim said jokingly and shook Marcus' hand.
"Oh Tim, don't tease him. Come here Marcus Dear, happy birthday!" Stephanie Drake joined them, elbowed her husband and gave Marcus a hug. Then she handed him a birthday card with $200.00 inside.
"Aw frag, you guys didn't have to get me nothin!" Marcus tried to argue.
"No, you'll accept it and you'll like it! End of discussion!" Stephanie said adamantly.
"It's a lot easier if you don't argue." Tim whispered loudly, earning another elbow from his wife.
"Yay, Marcus is here to play!" Four-year-old Jason cheered while crashing his toy Batmobile into Marcus' leg.
"Whoa, lil' brat, I can't play today, but next time - you're in for it!" Marcus teased the boy who pouted briefly than ran back to his play.
"Sorry for the delay, but I'm ready now!" A voice descending the staircase called.
Marcus looked upon his girlfriend, Keelia, with delight. She was dressed in her Robin costume for the annual Halloween dance, but it looked out of place in their small home.
"Thanks for my birthday gift, Darlin'!" He said with a rakish grin.
Keelia looked at him perplexed before he grabbed her in for a passionate kiss. Keelia was able to push back from Marcus after hearing her brother make gagging noises.
'I can think of a few other gifts you could give me.' Marcus said to her in a telepathic message. Keelia had already been blushing but she then turned the same shade as her costume.
Tim and Stephanie shared a look before pushing the two young lovers out the door.
"You had better bring her completely intact, Marcus!" Tim called out as Marcus and Keelia boarded the motorcycle.
"Timothy Drake, get over here so I can hit you!" Stephanie threatened.
So the flying motorcycle leapt into the air carrying a smirking half-Czarnian and a beet-red Robin.
