Okay. I regret nothing. The ending turned out to be completely different from what I had planned. In the middle of it all, I realized that it wouldn't be Tokyo ghoul if it didn't go in that direction. One more thing; It may seem as if I'm dragging but I found that it was essential to establish my OC's personality.I couldn't find a good name for her though

Thank you for reading. Reviews would be much appreciated.

She was six when she first met her.

" Nice to meet you" Irimi squeezed out, barely loud enough for her voice to be considered a whisper, she was awed by the beauty and aura of the woman in front of her. The woman was glowing, as if she were a princess materialized out of the book her parents would read to her before bedtime.

"She's my best friend" Her mother declared, enthusiastically." She's also the one who named you, Irimi-chan" she added softly as an afterthought.

She was seven when she met her again.

This time, Touka-san was crying. A hand placed atop of her mouth, tears slowly cradling down her cheeks. For some reason, Irimi was crying too. Because that's what everyone expected her to do. They looked at her sadly and she wondered, why were they doing that? Why were so many people in her house, anyway?

She shook her head and waved at the woman from where she was. Touka-san acknowledged her with a nod but stood still. Irimi wondered if she knew where her parents were. She hadn't seen them since she woke up and honestly, she was getting scared being alone without them.

[linebreak]

She, barely passed eight when she met Touka again.

Her parents never came back. Irimi was told that they were gone, that they had died. And she questioned, when would she meet them if that were the case?

"After a lot of time"

She was taken into the custody of an orphanage where they were a lot of children of her age. She was ecstatic as she never had anyone to play with but it wasn't what she expected, the kids were not kind, like the ones in her bedtime story. They mocked her, taunted her about the death of her parents. Even The caretakers were too strict and they had, once, even slapped her. It was the first time she had ever been hit.

It hurt to say the least.

She was led into a room, one day. For a moment, she was scared. She was sure that she hadn't broken any rule. So Irimi sat in her chair, glued as she fidgeted with her fingers.

Touka-san came in from the other side of the door. Irimi sat, dumbfounded at her sudden arrival.

"Do you remember me?" She asked and gazed around the room absentmindedly as she slowly sat in the chair next to hers.

"Yes" Irimi replied, her voice was distant, she realized as she compared it to the joyful tone of the woman who sat beside her.

Touka-san sighed exuberantly, "Good grief" she muttered.

Irimi took a quick glance at her. Uneasy at the sudden attention, and nervous under the woman's eyes or eye, since one of them was hidden behind a curtain of hair.

Touka-San jerked forward and in another swift motion, grabbed her hands. She squeaked, startled when Touka-san spoke, softly" I'm sorry" she said and gently squeezed her hands." For not being there when Yoriko and your father passed away. I was told that you had some relatives so I-"

Irimi bit her lips " I-met you once..." She murmured. You're a stranger.

Touka-san was quite before she chuckled lightly." Your mother and I were great friends. And I'd be damned if I let you stay here anymore."

"W-what do you mean?"

"Would you like to stay with me?" The woman inquired and quickly added "For a while. Until we find someone to take care of you."

She was ten and had been with Touka-san for two years.

The woman was nice. Definitely not the princess she had expected her to be. Touka-san did almost everything she remembered her mother doing. Making her lunch, listening to her blabber about her day at school and most of all, eating her horribly made and tasting dishes were some of the prime example. Though, she was a force to be reckon with when angered. Touka-san wouldn't yell or scream. But rather she would glare or speak in an eerie calm voice.

She wondered if her own mother had some moods like that.

She was twelve and they had a fight.

Irimi was screaming and Touka-san wasn't a step behind. She couldn't even remember why they had started to fight but it didn't matter.

"You're not my Mother" She hissed

And there was silence.

She was fourteen when she first noticed it.

Touka-san didn't normally eat much.

But today, it was a far cry from what she used to take. "I'm not hungry" she remarked and Irimi raised her eye brow, her plate was so empty and she worriedly thought if they were having some sort of financial trouble.

She pushed her half eaten plate aside." I'm not hungry either"

She bought her a gift.

It wasn't of much worth but Irimi was sick and tired of seeing the dark haired woman use that worn out and monstrous; despicable rabbit keychain and she was going to do something about it.

When Touka-san was busy, she threw that rabbit keychain away in the bin and swiftly replaced it with the new one.

Irimi sighed in content as she entered her room and sprawled on her bed. Her lips twitched up in a smile.

The door burst opened, and Irimi jolted up from her bed in a matter of minutes. Touka-san held the keychain she give in her hands with an unreadable expression." Where is it?" Her voice was low and each word came out as a hiss.

She shuddered with fear.

"Irimi, where is my keychain?"

She took a deep breath and with a hesitant voice, replied "I throw it. In the bin"

Touka-san rushed out of the room, from her hands the keychain slipped and laid forgotten by the elder woman.

That sight of her rejected gift broke Irimi's heart

They didn't talk after that.

Touka-san had apologized profoundly. She had told her how the keychain was a gift from someone important.

"Irimi. Please"

She'd leave the room every time Touka-san tried to talk to her. It was getting ridiculous, but Irimi was never one to back down.

She was studying when a rabbit keychain dropped between the pages of her open book. Startled, she looked up to see indigo haired woman.

Touka-san took a deep breath and flashed her the keychain she gave, smiling slightly "I will use this from now on"

Irimi nodded and grabbed the rabbit one as she stood " I'll thrown this one than" it was the first time she spoke to her.

Touka-san faced crumbled and she looked appalled. "What? No. There's no need for that."

"There is!" She cried out." Or is that person who gave this keychain to you and left to never see you again more important than me?"

The woman shook her head." That's not the point and that's not what happened."

"It is"

"It's more complicated than that, Irimi" She snapped and Irimi scoffed, loudly. "Of course it is"

She slammed that keychain down." Wait for him for an eternity, I don't care" she remarked "Why take care of me then? When I'm worth much less than the one who left you"

Irimi won. That keychain was thrown away. She would smile triumphantly every time her eyes caught her gift hanging down from that woman's phone but then drowned in guilt whenever she saw her face.

Touka-san stopped smiling sincerely.

She was seventeen when she found out.

She came home early that day. The house was quiet and unwelcoming. She had expected that. But, there was a rotten aroma hovering in the air. She clicked her tongue distastefully. Had they forgotten to do the dishes?

She noticed the shoes. Touka-san was home. Irimi dropped her bag along the way and staggered towards the woman room.

The door was closed and the small intensified. Confused, she crooked one eye brow and opened the door.

"I'm hom-"

There was blood. There was flesh. There was a realization and the staring of inhuman eyes. There was a voice which called her name and there was a scream.

Irimi ran.

"You're a ghoul" she whispered.

And Touka-san looked down, ashamed." I am" she replied.

There was silence.

And everything fell into a puzzle. How had she missed that?

"Irimi" She said and bit her lips.

Irimi didn't look up. She felt betrayed. The woman who had become her mother figure was a monster. Who was to guarantee that Touka-san wouldn't just go wild and...eat her?

"I am sorry" that woman whispered." I knew that I had to tell you soon enough but I'm so sorry that you found out that way"

Irimi looked up to see the woman's remorseful eyes placing a hand on her forehead.

The eyes turned jet black, red veins spread out, a red dot in between shimming brightly, beautiful. Horrifying.

"Do you... Do you kill people?" She asked her breaking with each word.

Touka-san looked away." No" she replied honestly." I don't. But I can't say that I haven't killed anyone even though it was a long time ago."

Irimi nodded.

She wanted to say that she understood Touka-san's peculiar circumstances. She wanted to pretend that nothing had changed but she couldn't.

A few weeks had passed since then and the woman was no longer someone like her mother, she was the predator and Irimi was the prey.

The one who made the first move, won.

The CCG published a report. It told the story of a female ghoul who had adopted an unfortunate human girl. The ghouls' intention were nothing less than rotten. It wanted to salvage the look of poor dismay and betrayal the young girl would have when it revealed her true nature.

But the human girl was sharp and she identified it for the monster it was. She informed the CCG immediately after accidentally learning about the ghoul's plan.

The CCG took immediate action. The girl was saved and the ghoul was presented with justice.

The report never mentioned that the only reason the investigators were able to defeat the female ghoul was that she had taken a fatal blow meant for the girl who was accidentally about to be hit during the crossfire.

It also never mentioned that the girl had held the ghoul's body after it had passed away and kept apologizing for what she had done.
