Prologue

Starlight shone down through the treetops, peaking through crevices and gaps in the leaves. In this area of the forest, there was no heavy sickness in the air. Grass and green plants covered the land. The water in the river shone like diamonds. This was home. At least, it had been for nearly six hundred years.

Now, Tauriel wasn't so sure.

With a heavy chest, her fingers traced lightly around the outline of her bow, or rather her new bow. The memory of her king, Thanduril, smashing and burning her old companion flashed through her mind momentarily, but she quickly pushed it aside. This bow was perfectly suitable, having been made from the finest materials of the woodland realm. It was a fine weapon, but Tauriel did not know it enough. It was cursed. Whenever she drew an arrow from it, she would feel her elfin power draining out of her. A slow, deep breath blows on her neck. Tauriel spins around, aiming with her bow. She put it down, and smiled. Finally, something was going her way.

'Not many people can sneak up on me like that, Kili.' She said to the dwarf, smiling slightly.

'And not many can notice I am there, my Starlight.' Kili replied, raising his eyebrows and smiling.

'Do you love me?' Tauriel asks, whispering.

'I loved you the day I first met you...' There was a moment of silence, and then Tauriel did something that she wished did not do. She pulled Kili in, and forced his lips onto hers. She let her tongue explore around in his mouth, he doing the same as her. They turned their heads in an anticlockwise direction, biting each other's inner cheeks. After thirty minutes, Tauriel pulled herself away, smiling.

'That was...' She began.

'Late.' Kili replied, a grin on his face. Tauriel nodded, and looked down sadly, a tear dripping down her face, she ran off into the woods.
