Lady Shiora (LS): Okay, this is something that I wrote a long time ago for a class…I've had it looked at by another author that said that it is really good. The reason I'm posting it now is rather…complicated. First, I haven't been able to get on to on a real computer for a while now, and second, the only computer at my house that can get on (or the internet for that matter) is my mom's, which doesn't accept 3 ½ inch floppies, and since I don't type my stuff up on that computer, and I can't e-mail to that computer, I have gone completely bonkers since the removal of cable (I haven't gotten my Beyblade fix for a while now) I have finally caved and decided to use the public library computers. The third reason is I couldn't find any Beyblade characters that fit this, so in a blast of insight, I have figured that it suites Hermione from Harry Potter really well.
Kai: You're not picking on us?
LS: Nope.
Harry Potter (HP): But you are picking on us?
LS: Yup.
Hermione Granger (HG): Damn.
HP: You said it, Hermione.
LS: Now, on with the shortness!
Sanctuaries
Why don't you ask me to join you? I'm too shy to come myself; you know that. I'm too shy, too alone. Separate, never together.
Would you miss me if I disappeared today, do you know if I exist today? Upstairs, alone, reading my life away. You say I enjoy it, but it's only a way for me to escape it all.
They never judge, they never argue. They don't push me away and they never put me down. They are my friends, my confidants. They are quiet, calm, and complacent. Happy with where they are in life. A short story never asks to be a novel, a piece of fiction real.
They are windows to another world, bubbles of another life, passages to another reality different from our own. They take me somewhere else whenever I turn their pages, and they never ask for anything more than a small amount of my time.
Some never end happily; some never end sadly. Each is like a person; every story a little different from all the others.
Books are my friends, they take me to the places I want to go, show me the truths I want to know. They hold my portals, they sustain my dreams, they are my shields against those that push me away and put me down. They are my sanctuaries.
HG: That's me?
LS: Well…Originally, it was based on me. But I want people to stop their bleedin' silence!
Kai: Oh, pitty.
LS: If you review, I'll look at your stuff!
Tyson: Don't encourage her!
LS: Yes, encourage me!
HG: Well…I think all your junk is CRAP!
LS: (starts sobbing) Nobody loves me!
Madame Shina (MS): (Looks like an eight foot tall, upright, yellow rabbit in red robes with completely white eyes) What is wrong?
LS: No one loves me. continues sobbing
MS: Calm, all will be well. I believe your writing is rather nice.
LS: Thank you (sniffles) Madame Shina. I'll re...(sniffles)...remember that.
Kai: Don't encourage her.
MS: All beings require encouragement. And she really will look at what you've written if you leave a polite, signed, review.
