Nightmare
Wood cracking
chunks falling-
smoke flowing.
Mortified sapphire eyes tried too search for somewhere to escape; his eyes went up and down, from left to right. Yet— everywhere his eyes laid on, everywhere he tried to look for an escape upon, was the same.
Burning ashes, coiling flares
cracks and snaps,
fire—
Red
It didn't matter where he ran, it didn't matter where he tried to go— it didn't matter what he did, he was trapped.
A cough
pants and wheezes through the smoke-
it was getting harder to breathe. . . .
He kept running. He would ignore that stinging sensation that assaulted his senses, that feeling that crawled under his skin, that feeling that made him want to curl and will it to go away, that feeling that fueled his resolve to run away, to keep going—-
If he didn't think about it, the fire burnt a bit less. If he ignored it, the heat was a bit more tolerable. If he thought in something else, the fear wouldn't be as strong. . . He wouldn't hear it.
He could run, he could ride— but it didn't matter where he went, it didn't matter how much he wanted to make it stop.
Because at the end, no matter the tears that fell…
He would always hear that laugh, that tune that haunted him
wherever he went—
It would whisper . . .
"Go on you just keep running—-
but I'll always be there to bring you back. . ."

Author Notes: Ah. . . This was in the middle of October, I think- an Axel requested a drabble that resembled a "Nightmare" you know those lists of drabbles that go around only one word?
