Farewell

I do not own the rights to Les Miserables

The clouds were dark above his head as Jean Valjean looked at the recently filled in grave. His head was bowed and on his old, year worn face was an expression of deep thought. He looked at the words on the grave stone and read them again.

EMILE JAVERT
DEDICATED POLICEMANV AND RESPECTED OFFICER
WHERE OTHER MEN WAVERED HE NEVER FALTERED
BORN SEPTEMBER 1782 WITH THE BLESSING OF GOD
DIED JUNE SIXTH 1832 AND IS NOW WELCOMED TO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

'So here we end our journey,' Valjean said to the grave stone. 'I hated you once Javert but now I pity you. I hope you'll find the peace in death you never did in life. I think I'll probably be joining you soon.'

He then coughed into his hand before turning around and walking away from the grave which was soon forgotten by the world.
